I wonder if it would be possible to create a module for playing a pool for the worldcup 2006 in Germany.

Everything is possible , but the question is who is going to make it? Do you plan to create the module yourself (and need help along the way) or are you looking for module developers who would like to do it?

I haven't heard of a WK 2006 pool module yet, but you can have a look at the Cricket League Stats module. Maybe you can make some modifications to the module.

Well i'm gonna give it a try if i can. But it will be not that easy. I'm just a beginner. :)

I did a quick search on The PHP Resource Index (search term: soccer) and it came up with 2 scripts:

tplSoccerStats:

Easy to use software to maintain your football team's statistics.

Football Development Software:
Version: 1.4 - Free - Requirement(s): MySQL Jump to URL
This program will allow soccer/football websites to include fixtures, results and league table positions on their website. The league tables are adjusted in the background as you enter the results. Enter league details, age groups and divisions. Includes a news bulletin section for announcing items, match reports and more.
For this one you need to register before you have access to their services

Maybe these scripts can be used in a block or ported to Xoops.

These scripts I don't think, but a similar script yes, these scripts have a limited licence.
