O.k. My Mac thinks I have no sense of humour. So she won't tell me who Tinkerbell is.

I say: "Tell me a joke"
She say's: "Knock knock"
I say: "Who's there?"
She says: "Tinkerbell"
I say: "Tinkerbell who?"

Silence...

I say: "Tinkerbell... WHO?"

Silence...

I say: "TIN-KER-BELL WH-OOOO!?"

Silence...

I'm now on: "T-IN-KER-B-ELL-WH-OOO-THE F****?"

Please, someone put me out of my misery.

I am a dedicated macintosh user.....

I have the answer to your question right here.

Unfortunately, I fail to see the connection between the two...

Tinkerbell is the little fairy from Peter Pan correct?

However if you can imitate an Irish accent, the joke might go something like this:

Quote:
Knock Knock
Who's there?
Tinker Bell!
Tinker Bell who?
Tinker Bell is out of order!

From ahajokes

Irish > English = Think your bell is out of order?

Tinkerbell at Wiki

Strange post.

Thx guys. I suspect the 'bell out of order' answer is not only likely, but appropriate... as today my OSX 'Speech Feedback Window' refuses to load at all!.

Knock knock... (echo)

If you run at relatively recent version of OS X, you can go into the Speech system preference and turn on "Speakable Items." Since most Macs have always come with a built-in microphone, you can then experiment with controlling your Mac via speech recognition. It comes with a whole bunch of pre-programmed recognized commands, but you can also program your own. And, now to the point-- one of the pre-programmed commands it recognizes is "Tell me a joke."

If you tell it to tell you a joke, it tells you one of its pre-programmed knock-knock jokes in whatever voice you have chosen. And it responds to your "who's there?" and "banana who?" almost like a real boy.

This person apparently could not get the punch line for a "tinkerbell" knock-knock joke. Must be in OS X Tiger, because I don't think I've heard that one in Panther that I use.

Thx mactoeknee for the clarification and apologies sparkerVII, I should have explained what on earth I was going on about!. The speech recognition in OSX is really quite good. I spent a happy evening saying "Switch to textedit" and "What time is it" You can control the 'Chess' game vocally too. I just couldn't get to the punchline of this #OOPS# joke. It's in Panther 10.3.9 along with classics like:

I say: "Tell me a joke"
She says: "Knock knock"
I say: "Who's there?"
She says: "Texas"
I say: "Texas who?"
She says: 'Texas are going up every year"

Of course as soon as I was getting excited by all this, it gives up on me. Just like a real boy.

And my 'Oops' in the above post is D a m n which hardly qualifies for censorship in this day and age, IMHO.
