Moved xoops... lost admin rights

Hi,

I moved my XOOPS application and the corresponding database to a new server. Everything works fine. The only thing I suddenly realized, that I couldn't log-in anymore as admin. Although the system recognizes me ("Thank you for logging in XXX"), there is no admin menu displaying. Thus I can't access my module administration area anymore.

Any idea why this is?

Thanks for any help.

You may have to log in twice.

If so, check your mainfile.php settings. your xoops_url should match the url where the login redirect sends you.

No, I tried that too. But it doesn't work. And I just tried to create a new user, but it tells me that "Could not register new user."...

I suspect its something to do with your mainfile.php settings.

not sure though, sorry I can't help more.

Updating the system module could fix this. Have you tried clearing your cache and template_c directories? This is something I do as standard when moving sites about.

I had a simular problem, and found the solution reading all the messages about upgrads. However for the life of me I can't find those post for you.

Anyway here's what I did.

Update the group modules permissions for admin. You don't need to change a thing just select admin group and click submit.

Next update you system module. I also made sure each module was updated, and my templates also.

The tricky part was getting to those areas to do the update. Hope this jogs someones memory and they can point you in the right direction.

Hope I'm helping.

Not sure if this will help. But if he can't get to admin. he can't make the updates. I did a litle search and I hope this helps. Mainly the second one.

Hi,

thanks four your suggestions and your help. Unfortunately it did't help.

a) I can't access the system part. So no way to update the system module.
b) The two Q&A sites indicated above deny me access.

I cleared the cache and the templates_c folder. I checked the mainfile.php again. But in vain. No result. Grrrrr....

Any more ideas? Perhaps I will try to update with the latest version of Xoops...

Thanks a lot.

do you have access to phpmyadmin? if so:

select your XOOPS db
select {prefix}_users
change fields to: rank=7 AND level=5

now you're admin dude

I checked, but it is rank=7 AND level=5.
