I've got similar problem.
I change the server and I'm trying to make it work in the new server.
I upload all the files in the new server and now it's giving me the following error message:

"This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

If you are the administrator of this site, please visit the XOOPS Troubleshooting Page for assistance.

Error [Xoops]: Unable to connect to database in file class/database/databasefactory.php line 34"

Can someone help me with that please.

Thanks

It looks like an incomplete install. The mainfile.php is probably incorrect. Did you do an install on the new server or are you doing a manual install.

I'ven't done any installation.
All I did was uploading the files and folders to the new server.
if any other steps I have to take please let me know

Thanks

To do a manual installation leaving everything as it was you will need to create a database.

If you want to do a fresh install you need to be sure you upload a fresh mainfile.php and the install directory. \

If you are just moving from another server. Edit the mainfile.php to set the correct database name and user. They will be different from the old server.

after struggling several days I couldn't find any reason why the BC portal is not working.
It supposed to be on the directory root without any subdomain. after I fixed the mainfile.php it didn't work.
an even I made a subdomain and copied all alberta's portal to this folder and fixed the mainfile.php, still is not working.

any suggestions? or help?

Migrating XOOPS from one server to another is simple providing you:

1. Backup the XOOPS database from your old mySQL database and import it to the new mySQL database on your new server.
2. Update mainfile.php in the root file to reflect your new XOOPS root path, Database address, Database username and password.

If it is not working for you then you are not doing it right.

Good Luck.

please visit www.seccionlatina.com
I did the same thing for BC as I did for Alberta, Quebec and Ontario. for some reason the page shown in BC is not correct. why should it be different and not working?

Just a little question.

Are you running your own dedicated win server ??

My bad i really start reading the whole thread

...

Well i had some problems when i installede XOOPS on a win server...

Note. PHP 5.0 and higher don't bundle MySQL anymore you have to move som files on your own... maybe that's the problem

In then WinNT/System32/ you should place a copy of libmysql.dll

Then it worked just fine for me
