Hello, this is an urgent situation and i will appreciate your help. when someone try to sign up, after entering the required informations and agreed with the disclaimer it shows the message: Could not register new user.

I don’t know which XOOPS version you have, but…

If you use 2.0.x , you can check in administrator menu-general preferences-configure users info if allow new users registration is enabled (the first option)

i'm using XOOPS 2.0 i didn't change any setting and yes is slelected to accept new user registration.
i have no clue why it's not working

this is a serious issue and i read many users having the same problem due to the the new security hot fix hole upgrade. is there any way to fix this without uploading the old files and escape this security upgrade. my site is on hold. thank you

I've asked the same myself.
I rebuilt the data base and reuploaded the original Xoops.
Try this.

try to play with the "privacy" settings of your firewall/internet security .... not just http_referer, but also "third party coocies and "private headers" .... all depends of what kind of firewall you have ... if all fails, try to turn the firewall down .... just for this session !!!
