Usually your host provides it on your sites control panel, where you create a database. Usually the control panel provided by the host is either cPanel or Plesk.

i've been hosting on a friends server, and so far they're not much help with anything on my site, so i dont know what im going to do

Try uploading the latest CBB 1.14, do not run the install script just update the newbb module. See if that works.

i found a module in the repository called phpmyadmin and it let me go into my DB and i remved anything that said xoops_bb_ to see if that will get it to work

EDIT: i was able to install it this time

thanks, and hopefully the bugs that are around with XOOPS 2.2rc will be fixed and a stable release will be out soon
