I'm very new to Xoops, and am feeling very stupid. I'm having a hard time with the User Management module. It only allows me to edit the prefrences of the users, and not the fields they can enter. When I click on fields, catagories or index, all I get is a blank page. What am I doing wrong?

try recovery.php and turn debug on..

also if you are new, you might be better using a stable version 2.0.13 instead of a beta/test version 2.1

I turned recovery on and got this message.

Fatal error: Class 'XoopsPersistableObjectHandler' not found in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\Xoops\html\modules\profile\class\category.php on line 79 - huh?

And I'm using 2.0.11, I was told it was my best bet.

The profiles module is for XOOPS versions 2.1.0+ not for XOOPS 2.0.11, you should just use the built in profile system.

This is the user management module that comes as standard option with the XOOPS install. Is that the one built for XOOPS 2.1?

Re: User Management

With XOOPS 2.0.11 there is no profiles module. You will find User profiles in the system settings, it is not a module, it is part of the system.

But this:
C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\Xoops\html\modules\profile\class\category.php on line 79 - huh?

Sounds like you have version 2.1.0 or 2.1.1 installed, which is still in development, and will have errors.

I'm new at this too. Like the other person said, all I have is a white page also. It was a "one click" install via my webhost.

I tried XOOPS 2.1 but there were so many hassles and moved back to XOOPS 2.0.11

seems you moved ahead. Heck, I'm new at all this myself. It took alot to just get it working. I'm afraid to change things yet again.
