No, its not bad at all for a test site or for someone experimenting with web design or XOOPS, I don't mean to knock it. Reading that just brought me back to when I started out 8 years ago with a free hypermart account: 50MB storage and 2000MB transfer... it was great for about a month, until the site gained a small following. Then hypermart charged me like $5 for each megabyte I went over in bandwidth & started sending me outrageous bills & i had to move everything mid-launch, it was a mess. I'm sure that won't be the case with cuckston's service, but the residual memories make me balk at a 'hook' of a "free 1000MB bandwidth".

Even 1000MB with a cpanel is great for experimentation though, so this contest would be worth pursuing for all those wishing they could run XOOPS on geocities.

whois HostGator: A Reseller Web Hosting Specialists

this results tells me 3 things:

- it's a reseller
- company is 10 days old
- it's a promotial stunt to get the service started

Secondly there are no rules on the competition and they don't tell you what they are going to do with your email address.
So to mee it looks another email harvesting addresser and a lousy competition.

I think a lawyer should read it and i bet someone could recieve big $$$ out of it vs a change on some free space for a "hello world" website.

Re: Web Host Competition

Theres noting wrong with a little advertising for a service bundled into a Competition.

I think its great that they are providing this as there are people who could really benefit from it.
