I am trying to install XOOPS on my laptop. I am running Apache 2.0.5, MySQL 4.0.2, and php 4.3.8 on a debian (utunbu) system.

Everything seems to work fine (local host works fine and I can call php pages and create MySQL databases, etc) but while trying to install XOOPS I get a blank page after the page that has database hostname; database username; database name; table prefix - when I press the button to continue I get a blank page. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Another blank page question

Before I give an answer I assume that
1. You have search the frum for blank pages entries
2. You have read FAQ - most frequently asked question on Blank pages
3. You have loked at XOOPS documentation links on the left

Blank pages are a common area of concern for users and will often send helpers in the other direction because the answers are already here online if you are prepared to look for them

So...provided you have doen your research and you haven't been able to resolve your blank pages try changing the subject line of this post to:
problems installing on my laptop
or
Can't find a resolution to blank pages

In the body tell us what you have tried as well as all your system details.

Hope you can find your answers!

Yes I have looked through the info on blank pages. One would assume that you would not have to say so. However, I cannot utilize any that I have seen since they do not match my problem at all. The only one that came close was not installing at the same point in php5 but it was a problem unique to php5. As already stated I am using php4.

I have checked my mainfile to make sure there are not extra lines or spaces at the end (I have been through that one before). So I am still unsure what to do.

have u read the part in the FAQ that tells u to turn php errors on E_ALL etc..

i don't see how we can help you with the scarce details you have given.. we need a bit more info to go on.. turning error reporting on in php.ini might help..

also it could be a permission problem.. or it could be a corrupt file somewhere, i simply can't tell from the info you have provided.. what's your server setup? IIS, apache, etc etc.. windows 98 xp me, NT 2000, 2003, linux?? as much info as you can give regarding your setup..

The next page displays saving configuration data to mainfile.php. Look here for your problem. Is the configuration information in the mainfile.php. If so lets look further.

monty perhaps you missed all this good info in my original post:

Perhaps you did not know that debian ubuntu is a linux distro however.

Anyway, yes E_All is set in common.php and my php.ini file allows error reporting - but there are none.

The mainfile.php is correct with the info I put in on the previous pages.

Hope this answers all your questions.

Sorry if it seems that I have an attitude - not meaning too. I did not write the info to the mainfile it was written there by the info I supplied on the previous install pages.

Is the information correct and have you opened it with an editor.

The problem is not with XOOPS it is on your end.
