I've been using the word book module (1.01) for months now and I'm very satisfied. The module can be used as a multi-category dictionary or encypclopedia.

First, you need to create one or more categories and put in a term you want to explain. The actually explanation is called a definition. It uses the familiar spawn editor, so no learning curve there. When you are finished with the definition, you can type in a reference, that's a website or booktitle where the definition came from. It's very stable and fast.

Most interesting features of Wordbook are:

- Autolink
If Wordbook comes across a word in your definition that is defined somewhere else in a category, it will automatically hyperlink it, so the user can read on if he wants to know more. It is automatic, does not require any maintenance and downright cool! If you use multiple more word terms like 'content' and 'content manager', you'll have a conflict. Suppose you have the term 'content manager' in a definition, it will link to the term 'content'. Future version should support some metatags, to force right linking. Another feature I miss is the lack of synonyms. Suppose you have a term 'woman'. You should be able to link synonyms to this term, like 'women' or 'eve'.

- Random term
Wordbook supports a block that displays a random term from your dictionary. It displays the term and an adjustable lenght of the definition. It works great and is a teaser that make visitors curious enough to click. It also shows the category of the term, but my visitors and me find this very confusing. They click on the category, instead of the term and land on an unexpected page. You can't turn this of, so I hacked it out. Otherwise it's great. Since the random term changes with every visit, it makes a search engine spider comeback more often, because the page changes all the time.

- Own search
The wordbook module has it's own search, although the XOOPS search will search in the Wordbook tables as well. I still find it handy, because, sometimes people do multiple searches in the dictionary and don't get distracted with results from other modules. The searchresult can be messy if you use HTML tags in your definition. I do, because I use a lot of tables to structure the content. It will show the litteral tags in the results, and that's messy. Either strip the HTML tags or use them, would be my choice.

All in all, I find it a supermodule that deserves support from the XOOPS (developers) community. A module like News should be linked to Wordbook as well, so my newsarticles are autolinked. This is not possible yet, but wouldn't it be great. I would love to see term support in the page title as well, like the new newsmodule does. Maybe, somebody knows a workaround for that one.

Well I enjoy the module, I hope you will to. My module is in Dutch. If you want to check it out. It's on this site: Chivo.nl - Alles over vitaliteit! Click on 'encyclopedie' in the main menu. If you like it, you can download the module here.

Cheers, Chi
