Hi,

I want a extra/special block for the startpage.

I want to add this extra/special block to one of the modules:
- wfsection -> DOWNLOADhttps://xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=12&lid=1258
- xfsection -> DOWNLOADhttps://xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=12&lid=1390

I want a new block witch looks like this example I make (only a image).
http://home.arcor.de/its00a/screeni1.gif (I want that all "categories" that I have will be displayed on the startpage, with the newst infos)

But if it's not possible than like this:
http://home.arcor.de/its00a/screeni2.gif

I'm a beginner, and I can't programming it, like I would in (see the examples).

The Modules permit to look like this:
http://home.arcor.de/its00a/screeni3.gif buts not like the look I want.

Can somebody help me, explan it, or programming it and sent me with email or as download for everyone!?

THX a lot for helping me little beginner.
SORRY for me bad english

So I'm a little bit further!

I know that I must edit 2 files for my project, if it's wrong correct me!

The 2 files are:
one of the existing blocks, per example xfs_block_new.html (you find it in the XF-Sections module in templates->blocks->xfs_block_new.html)
the other file is than xfs_new.php (you find it in the XF-Sections module in blocks->xfs_new.php).

But know I thing I'll don't go further, because I'm a rivet in programming.

Fragments that I need are in this templates (templates->blocks->...):
- xfs_block.menu.html (TITLE CATEGORY)
- xfs_block.new.html (TITLE OF THE ARTICLE and DATE)
- xfs_block_bigstory.html (SUMMARY)

the only thing is maybe that I can make the template.html, but the xfs_new.PHP certainly not Is, anybody her to help me in my little problem!?

THX

I think I am wanting the same thing! I also think that the RSS-1.1 module would do this with the "Whats New" hack that Ken did. (I have not gotten that to work either)

At my site I am using xfsection:
http://www.topekadiy.com/xoops//modules/xfsection/

But I really hate the way it is laid out on the page.

The "Main Menu" has the 'sections' names in a column on the right side, and thats fine, but then the 'description' collumn is this big wide area that is not really needed for my purposes, and then the 'articles' column pushed all the way over on the right side, with the headlines/title all shortened, and looking too bunched up.

I took a swing at remaking the template but I failed. I am ASSUMING that it is the templates that control how this is laid out?

What I need is the section (Or is that 'catagories'?) collumn on the right, like it is, then in the center column the article titles/headlines, and a brief summery either indented just under them, or in the right hand column.

I thought that I could do this with the RSS-1.1 module and a block or two, but I just cant get that working.

Can anyone please please please help me?

Cheers
ct
