Smarty is part of the backbone of Xoops, so you can be pretty safe in assuming all XOOPS article modules support smarty. What is it that you are trying to do exactly?

Hi Brash,
I tried it in news, edito, articles and section modules but it didn't work. I am trying to offer free reviews, previews, poems and articles webmasters but I want them to view a bit of the article but have to log in or register to view the whole article. Do you know if wfsections support this?

WF-Section *may* do this, but I haven't got in to play with all it's bells and whistles since about beta 4 I think. The only module I know for sure that supports that functionality out of the box is AMS which I will be releasing as of Monday. AMS has a feature called 'audience level' which basically takes the text in the description area of an article and treats it as a teaser. However, only those who are members of the groups which have permissions to that particular audience level will be able to view the entire article. It's kind of hard to explain, but I am 99% sure it is what yo are looking for. Register at ams.it-hq.org to get pretty much full administrative access (no access to info blocks) of the AMS module and have a go for yourself.

Ok, I just tested it out and it looks terrific

I saw the option of registered users only but dosn't this block guests from seeing even a little bit or am I skipping over something?

Sorry, this bit is a bit obscure here at the moment. I do plan to have a decent FAQ for it by launch time.

When typing in your text for your article, you will need to use the [extend] tag (AMS Specific) to indicate that there should be an article description. Basically ALL the text you place in the article text box prior to the [extend] tag will be treated as the article description. It works in a similar way to the [pagebreak] tag in the News module (which also works in AMS).
