First of all, what is it? I've looked at the operation guide and didn't see any explanation of what it is. If someone could point me to a faq, or something, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks,
Terrion

I'm new to XOOPS too, and from what I see, Sections way of creating a set of articles or even custom pages containing their articles.
These are meant to be broken up into various groups which you can designate with their own logo and description.

These are articles that you DO NOT want to show up elsewhere and ones that you want to stay up, unchanged.

These show up under your main menu with the default header Sections. You can rename this by renaming the sections module.

Go to Administration Menu >> Sections and check it out!

Hi,
Sections is a bit of a quick an easy solution, but I understand it will be deleted from the standard XOOPS installation in the near future. It is quite simple to use but doesn't use templates. wfChannels or Tiny Content or Articles are alternatives with more future. Tiny D is a duplicable version of Tiny Content - very useful!
Good luck,
Alan

Thanks to all for replying. I'm starting to understand. Perhaps I should wait and see what's included in the upcoming release? I've got lots of content that needs to be collected from old, soon to be discontinued websites. I'd like to bring it all together in one, very manageable place.

Have you checked out smartsection? This module has a BIG furitre in my opinion. If you are looking for more on the article manager side of things then you have the News, WF-Section and AMS (released at the end of this month) modules to select from.
