Hi I'm new to XOOPS and am unsure of whether what I'm looking for already exists.

I am trying to set up a news site with the following features:

1. users can post anonymously but can provide their own name/alias. At the moment the news module which came with xoops2 lets users post anonymously but all posts have the same name attached("anonymous").

2. Users can post their news in two parts, a summary which appears on the news page and separately the article body which should only be visable after the site user clicks "read more"
With the module I have tried to set up only administrators can post a summary and also have access to an "extended text" field which is viewable by a site user only after clicking "read more".

3. The ability to post a picture with an article, with a thumnail being generated automatically for display on the news page with the summary, and the full image viewable after clicking "read more"
It should go without saying that a news article can have a picture attached, and the ability to attach files would be good as well.

4. the ability for site users to rate articles and to filter the list of summaries(news page content) based on these ratings. Now here's the hard part, for the users who are logging in it would be possible to impliment a reputation management system so that not only are the articles filtered according to how well they rate, but ratings by persons not of like mind could be weighted less when calculating the average rating for an article for that particular user. Anonymous users could all have the same rating weight, but users who log in and tend to rate articles in a similar way to other users could have the ratings of these other users weighted more heavily when filtering content.
So if a user rates an article that I thought was "excellent" as "very poor" for example, then that person's rating is either ignored or weighted less when calculating the average rating for all articles for the purpose of dynamically generating my news page of summaries.
Effectively, raters would be rating other raters simply by logging in and rating articles.

5. using this kind of repuatation management system would allow editorial responsibilites to be trusted to site users.
So "well rated raters" could be trusted to hide illegal posts, taking the workload off the site administrators.

I am trying to set up an Indymedia news site. Indymedia news sites currently depend on manual quality control. This kind of system would allow the content to be automatically sorted and filtered by site users and the site users could have their own user profile and preferences.

I have detailed this idea at the folowing address: http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/CurrentSiteRe-designProposal

but have absolutely no idea of how to impliment it.
Is there something like this already?

Hope you think it's a good idea for a XOOPS module, and I wish I had even the faintest idea of how to go about developing it.

so whatdy'a reckon?
