If you are relatively new to XOOPs like I am then you might have had problems updating from NewBB1 to NewBB RC2.

I have to say that I found the instructions to be not very clear at all. Here's what it said:

1. Remove you old newbb folder
2. Upload the New Files and Run the Proper Update Scripts
3. Update the NewBB Module in the Moduleadmin
4. Set Permissions for the Categories and Forums
5. To make the Popup Menu work, make sure that the

1. "Remove you old newbb folder" to me meant to deactivate and remove my NewBB 1 from my site which I did. I (like a dummy I admit) deleted my NewBB 1 because it said "REMOVE 'you' old newbb." Big mistake now all my topics are gone. I wish that was clearer. Was I supposed to just copy over the NewBB 1 that I had -- now that seems to have been the case.

2. "Update the New Files and Run the Proper Update Scripts" Um, OK, but how come there aren't any instructions on how to do this for the relatively new user? How exactly do you "run the proper update scripts"? What does that entail?

The rest of the steps are more straight forward.

I just think that sometimes more consideration for users who aren't as experienced and are still learning the basics must be taken into account sometimes if this is going to continue to be one of the premiere CMS tools out there.

I do not believe "Remove you old newbb folder" equal to "Remove you old newbb"

Anyway, formal instruction will come with the full final release, no doubt.

This is quite right, but an RC = Release Candidate is not a Final, this will be with more detailed instructions for those who aren`t as experienced.

A RC is for public test of experienced Xoopser to Test the functionality or maybe find Bugs or for those they want to try what`s coming up, so our main focus is the Module themself, that`s why the document lacks at this time of development.

This means not you can´t try, we are here and if you have question don`t be shy just ask, this gives us also a hint what are the most ask questions and can added those experience into the documentation.

If your post only about the documentation, then i have explained above that this part will be completed for the final.

Regards
