Hai there,

I was just wandering, and could't find the answer in het XOOPS wiki: when I built a site on my local machine and want to put it on the server from my webhost, can I copy all the files with my FTP program and install XOOPS online, after which the whole site is the way I designed it (look and feel, documents and images on the right place, etc) ??
Or must I install remote and repeat all the work I did locally?
I can't imagine, but as a newbie I thought that this question is relevant....

Thnx and greetings,

Ronaldus

Re: Installing remote site

You can copy the entire site from one server to another, no problem.

To get your settings over as well, you will need to export the database from the first server and import it on the new one

Finally you will need to CHMOD the cache, templates_c and uploads folders with write-permissions for the server and modify the mainfile.php on the new server to use the correct settings (note that you will need to CHMOD mainfile.php to be not read-only in order to make your changes - remember to put it back on read-only/CHMOD 444 when you are done)
