I've just started getting a periodic problem on displaying our home page. At times, after logging in, it can take up to a minute or more to get the home page. At other times, it just pops up. Is there some way to troubleshoot what's going on?

From my SQL Server days, I would immediately think table locking but that shouldn't be the case.

Any ideas/direction/suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Troubleshooting Home Page Display Performance

General purpose performance tuning tips:

1. Turn on MySQL / block debugging. This will tell you how long it takes for XOOPS to render the page, as well as the queries involved in drawing the page

2. If you are using the headlines block, perhaps the headline cache is refreshing a slow feed.

3. If you have blocks that take a long time to run, but rarely change, make your cache settings more aggresive.

Thanks ... I've turned the MySQL debug on but now I can't get it to be slow!! Isn't that always the way!

I'll watch it for a day or so and keep logging in and out trying to get it to happen again.

Right now I don't have anything cached so as soon as I see what's the bottleneck, I'll adjust.
