My articles don't display (wf-sections)!!!

Help, this is important as my site get's most traffic through my articles..

My articles simply don't show up and everything is fine in permissions.

I thought it might be corruption so i upgraded from wf-sections 2 to wf-sections 2.0.7 beta, but it has obviously nothing to do with it.

Does it has anything to do with wiwi module (wiki) that i installed recently when this happened.

I tried with original link (without that mod rewrite), but it's the same.

Also, the same thing happens with headlines module, some feeds simply dissapear, but i thought it was because the site didn't emit any feeds, now i'm not sure.

Anyhow, please help.. this is a catastrophee.. i can't just let my content simply turns into blank just like that..

Can you switch on phpdebug in preferences and post the results. When you see blank pages this is what XOOPS is secretly asking you to do..

Here's what the debug says for article pages:


Notice [PHP]: Undefined index: articlepage in file modules/wfsection/article.php line 68

IN the future i'll use this more often when there are problems since this does gives a clue at least. However, i'm not sure what to do according to this debug notice, you probably do know. Please let me know.

Did you uninstall the old version (hence loosing your content) and then install the beta?

Or did you just copy over the files (which is not supposed to work because of database changes)?

If you did the first i hope you still have a backup of the old situation.

Please tell me so we can move on from there. Also you might wanna open this topic also on wf-projects.com because its easy for me to miss it here on the frontpage while "at home" that would most likely not happen.
(still we will post the solution at the end here too for sure)

Hello Bender..

The new wf-sections is not a problem since this problem existed even before i updated to it. I did that because i though it might solve the problem since i knew that wf-sections 2 was buggy and also i thought it might have been a coruption problem. So i wanted to kill those two possibilities by simply updating to a new version.
I deactivated the old module, replaced the old files and then updated and reactivated the module. The content is there, it's not lost as i see it in the admin section, the article pages don't display only, that's the whole problem.

It may not even have a direct connection with wf-section but with XOOPS as problem existed with the old version also, and now with the new, idenpendantly.

Does this debug output means anything:

The problem is, their is no update script yet, you can't deactivate, but need to uninstall and reinstall, sorry, the new tables in the new version can only be changed this way at the moment till the update script is released

The error message is not a problem

You did not say whether you have a backup`? Are you doing all this on your live site?

Do i understand right that the old version of WF-Sections was working fine and then at some point stopped working or was it never really working?

You could deactivate (NOT UNINSTALL) all other modules except WF-Sections and see if the problem is still there. If it is not ... activate one after another and see which one might interfere.

You could go back to the old version of WF-Sections to see what the original error message there was. This actual one could be caused by the different database tables.

Well i think it would be nice to do this testing on a local setup (using XSAS or something like that) which would also show if this only happens on the webserver or also on your local system. (different Apache, PHP ,...)

I have a database backups automatically made every day at 7 o clock in the morning +1 GMT.

However, old wf-sections worked fine and this came out of the blue or... maybe it was somehow caused by me installing a wiwi module (wiki)?

It didn't have anything to do with wf-sections update to appear. I already had wf-sections 2 so i though upgrading to the 0.7 wouldn't be a problem. I know there's not update script, but i though it was only for the wf-sections 1.x users.. Anyway, it works fine except for this problem which is obviously something else, not caused by wf-sections update. It appeared BEFORE that.

And yes, i'm doing it at a live site, even if i had the local test site this problem appeared on the live site using wf-sections 2 and i tried to circumvent the problem by updating.

I'll setup the local server, i already tried with my Mandrake 10, but i completely forgot about XSAS, it works on linux, right??

Ah no XSAS is for windows.

Well you could deactivate the modules testwise on your live site first as just deactivating should cause no harm and dont take too long. (Probably starting with deactivating the wiki module you have under suspicion)
