Ok, final two questions before I make my decision:

1. Does Newbb2 install over forumex , so I don't lose my current forum posts.

2. Does it still support hidden forums, i.e forums are hidden to everyone else.

1. If you mean from the newbbex, i have to look if there are much sql structure changes to the old newbb....
if no changes just use the updaters, else i will make one for the final.

2. You can set what ever you want through the permissionssystem, hide categories, hide all forums inside them or just a view, etc. just check it out.

Hi,

It seems to me that I wrote a text file inside the module to know what to do to migrate from newbb to newbbex. From memory I have just changed the tables name (added "ex" at the end of the name) and you must have two new fields in the forum's table. The rest is identical to newbb v1.

Pants. I installed it, then my old forums stopped working. I tried things, more things, then gave up and removed the old forums and i'm starting from scratch again. Nice improvements, shame I can't find the PRIVATE forum option anymore.

One question, how do I remove the message icons? those small gray icons, the circle in a square, smiley in a square etc.. the little gray ones.. I want them gone :)

no need for a private option, just set the Permissions (Global permissions, and per-group per-action permissions)

those permissions set access & visibility
