You'll need to update your system module in the modules admin area to update the system templates after installing. As far as I am aware auto login is going to be implemented in XOOPS 2.2, but that won't be to later this year at the earliest I'd say.

Updating the System module fixed my problem. I never knew until just now that this was necessary.

Also, FYI, the hack doesn't come with a readme file.
