Hey guys

It's been a while since I cannot modify permissions for some modules like news or newbb (CBB), and the page redirects to home page, showing the error that 'you do not have permission to do this' (I don't remember the exact phrase).

Recently I checked my DB and found group_permissions table was read only, but fixing it didn't solve the problem.

I'd appreciate any of your help.

Did you make any changes to XOOPS or these modules, or upgraded PHP version? This shouldn't change by itself!

Not really. I haven't changed any significant file recently.

Sometimes what seems "insignificant" to you, might have significant impact on your Website

Try to empty your "sesions" table. There is a function for it in Admin:

/modules/system/admin.php?fct=maintenance

You mean the PREFIX_session table? I did empty it and it didn't help.

It's funny I download all the files and databases on local and there I don't have this problem!

Do you have the same versions of PHP on both?
Maybe there is a difference in extensions that you have installed?

1) Do you have the same version of XOOPS and of the modules on both installations? Which ones?

2) If you use XOOPS 2.5.6, you should make sure that you have the latest versions of the modules (like the News and NewBB). To improve security, we have updated the permission file. Please read more info about it in this thread

We have also included this info in the Release News:

Quote:
IMPORTANT NOTE:
-----------------------------------
Due to changes related to security, it might happen that in one or two modules saving of the Permissions in Admin might not work. We are finalizing the Basic Module Pack, where all modules have been tested on XOOPS 2.5.6. Please check the News on XOOPS Website for a special announcement about the updated modules, or ask on the XOOPS Forums.
Or you can read more detailed information about how to fix it yourself in /docs folder in the file: "fixing_permissions.txt"

It's possible that you have some old modules that didn't follow the right development process and included the permission files locally.

My news modules is not up to date, but the thing is the exact files and the exact database are on local too, and there, I don't have this problem!

Doesn't it seems quite weird?

P.S: My Xoops version is 2.5.4.
