I have a old website, that for various reasons I won't go into now, i had to take down in October or November 2007. It was an up to date XOOPS install at the time.

Now I've uploaded it to a new server, but I'm getting a blank screen

Can someone tell me what the read/write attributes for the files and subdirs should be?

TIA

Assuming you are running on linux, and assuming you're running a fairly mature and secure setup, the file permissions for php and other files are generally 644 and directories 755. Some setups may require higher permissions than that. Realistically it depends upon your hosting provider and how they set it up.

It may be worth checking the effort of installing the latest verson of XOOPS and then import the module from your old installation.

I am thinking of similar strategy as my site is running on XOOPS v2.3.1 and i am planning to upgrade it to XOOPS v2.5 (once the stable verson is released.)

As far as I recall, it used to be:

Before running installer:

uploads
cache
templates_c
mainfile.php

CHMOD 777

Change mainfile PHP to 644 after installation.

444 is normally recommended, but 404 is even better

Is there a file somewhere in the program that will tell me the version?

("XOOPS_VERSION","XOOPS 2.0.16")

Is that available anywhere for downloading?
