PS: I did change my permissions back to 444 on mainfile.php after I redid the edits.

That was the problem (I edited the file before but I forgot to change the permissions from read only and it still looked like it saved so I did not realize the problem was still with that file).

Thanks

Hi,

I moved xoops_data and xoops_lib out of document root and updated the paths in mainfile.php.

What else do I need to edit as I still get the error below and in the place where I put the xoops_data and xoops_lib I have the directories and permissions specified by the readmes.

This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

You can provide the following information to the administrators of this site to help them solve the problem:

Error: Smarty error: the $compile_dir '/home2/kennebec/public_html/xoops_data/caches/smarty_compile' does not exist, or is not a directory.

Do I need to empty a cache somewhere (if so, please let me know which one).

Thanks

The problem has been solved -- my provider did not elaborate on what was wrong. The main thing is it is working again

Thanks, I have posted a ticket for my provider (they don't do phone support). I haven't tended to need phone support in the past so I did not worry about that when I switched hosts.

Will post the solution or the next question pending the outcome.

Hi,

I have been running my page on XOOPS 2.3.3 for three months. Everything was fine with it yesterday and I did NOT make any changes.

Today, I browsed to my URL, and my default theme loads but no menus or data are displayed.

I don't have the login ability either.

The url in question is kennebeclake.ca.

The behaviour happens on multiple PCs with both Firefox 3x and IE 7x.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Depending on what you want to change, here are a couple options:
1) for a custom block (one you created), you can change the name of the block.
2)To change the name an installed module displays in the menu, put the desired name in the first column and then click submit to update the databases.

I just had a user try to register with a space in their username, on my XOOPS 2.3.3 based site, this past weekend.
Spaces are not allowed. Also the user name is restricted to a length of 10 characters.

Poll v1 keeps track of each vote on the questions of a poll cumulative. For example, "5 people have voted for this question". It displays the results graphically. That would be the closest match I can think of.

Maybe XOOPS Poll 1.2 has what you are looking for ? I haven't tried it.

Poll modules are found here
