playsome, exactly
only not just an article that has tabs to related materials, but an actual dedicated page for each game, with tabs to all related materials, pretty much just like the psu link you gave me.

IGN is a good example, and so is Gamespot as well. I really like how gamespot implements user profiles, another thing I would like to learn to do in Xoops.

i know some PHP, but I really have no idea how to use it in XOOPS beyond a custom PHP block that says echo "hello world" lol.

i think if we could figure out how to do something like this, it could take our sites to the next level.

is extremely frustrating.

I am trying to make a page that will have links to other pages related to that page. For example...a specific video game page, say Call of Duty 4...and on that page will be a Review tab(or link, which ever works best), a News tab, a Videos tab, and a Forum tab, and whatever else we can think of later.

My problem is, I just cannot figure out how to do this, or the best way. Do I make a content block, then put links to other content blocks?

Or would it be more efficient to have a database (we plan to have a lot of games)...but then I don't know how to make a database in Xoops.

So far I have tried to make content pages (using Content module), but I don't feel like that is very efficient and feels kind of sloppy and could become disorganized very fast, but maybe I am wrong?

any suggestions?
thanks
C

Hay fam...
i tried to search for this, but where can i find some php tutorials in xoops? I have taken php courses, and while i'm not the best, i think i can manage a few things. However, I am still not sure how to work it into xoops. I know how to make a php block, but that is it. I would like to know how to pull from the database, count user activity, and stuff like that.

For example, how can I store a specific username in a variable? How can i get that username? Is there anything out there written especially for xoops?

thanks!

I would like to either simplify, or altogether eliminate the user menu, so that after someone logs in, it just says Welcome userid. or just userid, where userid is the users name as a link to their profile, where they can click it and access everything they need in there. Is this possible with User Profile module? Or would I need something else?

thanks

Hi,
we were wondering if there was a way to have each user keep their own blog, and maybe have it stay contained to their profile? we have tried Wordpress and Popnupblog, and they all write to one blog page.

So basically, if someone clicks on another user's profile, they can see that person's blogs ONLY and not a list of a whole bunch of blogs by different people.

thanks

We are going to start building a website with xoops, and were wondering if these things were possible, and which modules we might need to make them happen:

1. Can we edit the registration form? For example, we would like to ask people registering which type of gamer they are (Casual, Hardcore, Competitive, etc.)

2. Is a ranking system at all possible? As in, the more active people are, they will rank up and earn badges, medals, and what not. Then we would like to give users an option to display them in there profile in a display case or something like that.

Those are just a couple things we were wondering. Are these even possible?

thanks
