true. turn off is not needed... but only if few visit the website. it could be taxing creating new templates for a highly populated website. So, no, I don't needed because I don't have that many visitors at any given moment. But I assumed that swaroops1's site was heavily used. I know I should not have assumed because that makes an as out of su and med, but I digress. I might have misunderstood the process of checking for changes. In which case then true, turning it off is not needed at all.

I was not familiar with the User Profile module. That is why I never installed it. Thank you. I works as I was hoping. I just need to get familiar with it now.

As per my second request. Is there a code similar to
if user is registered
or
if (xoops user)

this is more or less what I wanted to do:
<ul>
<
li>home</li>
<
$if registered>
<
li>photos</li>
<
li>downloads</li>
<
$endif>
</
ul>

Thank you. I truly appreciate the help you have provided.

After editing the necessary HTML files
- Go to: Administration menu > Site Preferences > General Settings
- Under "Check templates for modifications" select yes
- Under "Turn your site off" select yes
- Submit or "Go"
- Go back home
- Refresh [F5]
- Go back: Administration menu > Site Preferences > General Settings
- Under "Check templates for modifications" select no
- Under "Turn your site off" select no
- Submit or "Go"
- Go back home

I hope that takes care of it

Except the delete part. Rather, I just didn't extract those files in to the htdocs in my local machine.

But for some reason i couldn't install XOOPS directly from 2.3.3b. That is why I went the not-so-long way.

So, yes, I made 2.0.18 in to 2.3.3b upgrade ready. Uploaded it.
Installed. And upgraded it. With out having to upload anything else. Finally:
- mainfile as read only
- delete upgrade & install folders

I know I saw a while back how to do this. I tried searching for this and could not find this at all.

I logged out and typed .../userinfo.php?uid=1
and it was displayed. How do I prevent this for unregistered users?

Also, in an loosely related matter. How do I change a theme so that the home tab always shows, but the rest of the tabs only show to registered users?

I also have FatCow. At first I thought it was the host. MySQL Database looked like it didn't work. There was no error. At the very first pass it would come back and ask to input info again.

SOLUTION:
Not a good one but it worked.

Download 2.3.3b
Downlaod 2.0.18.2 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xoops/files/) which is a Stable Release
Extract htdocs from 2.0.18.2 - DON'T INSTALL yet
Extract files/folders specified for upgrade from 2.3.3b
Upload htdocs content to the XOOPS root folder.
Go to the website and you will be promoted to install Xoops
Complete the set up and click to view your site. No need to login.
On the address bar, at the end after / type: upgrade
Example: http//subdomain.yourdomain.com/upgrade
Log in if prompted and follow instructions displayed.
Delete install and upgrade folders, and set read only permissions for mainfile
Log in to the administration section of your XOOPS website and go to modules
Update the System module.

That worked for me.

I guess you're trying to edit a theme's html file?
If so, then you might need to turn off your site check for template modifications.

Go to Administration Menu > Preferences > General Settings >
Check templates for modifications ? Select YES
Turn your site off? Select YES
Go Home, see if it worked. Then come back and select NO on both.

If you see this on a block, then check the cache settings. If the chace lifetime is of 1 day, then select 30sec. check again in 30sec to see if it changed. once it does, set it back to 1 day.
Administration Menu > Blocks

Hope that helps. otherwise, add more detail.

I am looking for an army or bf1942 theme. There doesn't seem to be any out there.

I'm trying to do a website for my battalion, so I modified Green_K to make it in to:
USArmy-Theme v0.7

I take no credit for it. I only put things together.

* This one has add-ons to replace smilies and ranks (note: rank is changed to status by replacing the user.php in the english language folder so that there is no confusion with military rank).
* Bottom blocks have been added.
* CSS changed for better readability.
* And other stuff as you may need. I may continue adding more to it. In the future
