I wouldn't give up completely....

Are you using the XAMPP distribution, or have you installed a different web server?

Steve,
I'm sure I dowloaded each of the components individually. I didn't have a clue about XAMPP when I started all of this.

Well, I've taken a look at your XOOPS options and the module and I can't determine what is causing this. I couldn't make any changes to the Preferences or Privileges in Wiwimod, nor could I get the edit function to work. In all cases, the url would change but the page would not.

Yes, thats exactly the problem I've been having. And that is where the frustration has been. And I haven't seen anything to indicate why I'm not able to make any changes to the Preferences and Privileges. At first I thought maybe it resulted from an error in the way that I installed the editors package. But I would think the default xooops editor would at least show up. And I can make changes to the options. I can make changes in other aspects of xoops. And I do have Pico working with both the default editor and the fckeditor. I had to create a second instance of the fckeditor for it to work but figured that one out. So it isn't just some bad issue with the site or the installation overall.

Maybe someone will come up with a potential idea or solution. It seems that folks have wiwi running with a similar configuration as to what I'm using. It's just totally odd. I didn't see any error messages from the debug either.

Maybe I'll just have to give up on wiwi....

Would you mind giving me admin privileges there? I've just registered as 'skenow'

While you are in the admin menu, look at the privileges tab for wiwimod - what are the settings for Open content?

Here is what the page should look like

Steve,
I've given you admin right (at least I think I have). The privileges tab seems unresponsive to me. I can't seem to change any profiles.

And yes, I guess I do have some custom blocks. The menus are from the Mastop Publish module.

Feel free to dig around and see what you can come up with to help me out. I appreciate it very much.

If you need it, I could probably even arrange remote access to the machine.

Thanks!!!

Let's eliminate a few variables -

Temporarily disable Protector
Turn on debug in XoopsInfo admin page

Report what information you get when you try to edit the page. Is there a public url we could access and see for ourselves?

I disabled protector and still the same issue.
I turned on debug and here are the error messages I get when using the artday theme:

Warning: Smarty error: file:/themes/artday-style_eng/ex_assign.php is not readable in file /class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 1095

Warning: Smarty::include() [function.include]: Failed opening '' for inclusion (include_path='.;C:/php5/pear') in file /class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 1925

I don't seem to get any errors when I'm using the default theme.

Here is the link to my XOOPS test site

I do appreciate all of the troubleshooting assistance. Thanks!

Try accessing the edit page directly -

http://yourxoopsurl/modules/wiwimod/index.php?page=WiwiHome&op=edit

I have the following modules loaded:

Backup
Xoops info
Protector
Wiwi
Pico
Mastop Publish

I loaded Wiwi as my first module after Protector. I had the problem right from the start with Wiwi. I added the other to modules when I ran into the problem with Wiwi.

I have the same result whether I use the default theme or another theme.

I don't have any custom blocks loaded.

When I go into Admin I don't get any messages about folders being unwriteable.

I tried to access the edit page directly as suggested above and I just get the same page as the Wiwi default. I did notice that when I click on the "edit" button, I get the same form of the URL that you listed above, but again, no editing box.

So I'm still at a total loss!

Thanks Steve! I must have spent way too much time focusing on this last night. I could have sworn that I tried that, but when I went back today and did just as you siad, it gives me access like I want it to.

Question about Main Page Content

I have certain content that I want to be accessible to individuals that access my XOOPS site without having to create a username and without logging in. We are a school district and we have lots of "publically" available information that we need to provide access to. But I can't seem to be able to get anything to display that content on the main (first page) or to allow you to access it from the first page without logging in. I have successfully gotten a menu item to show up on the first page, but when an anonymous (not logged in) user clicks on the menu item they simply get a screen that says they are not authorized to access or see that page.

Any guidance!

Thanks!

Sorry, it had been a long day. It is version 0.8.3.

So here is the correct information:

I have installed Wiwi 0.83.

I'm using:
xoops 2.0.16
Apache 2.2
mysql 5.0.27-community-nt
PHP5

I have been following Steve's Day by Day Instructions for installing a new XOOPS site in the Beginners Corner and I'm hung up at Day 15 with this.

I looked at an actual site using wiwi and I can confirm that my installation does not do what it is supposed to when I click on the Edit button. On that site, an edit window opened with editable text in the window and a display of the page below the window. When I click on the edit button I seem to see a quick flash and no editor in my browser. Just the very same page as before.

Sorry, it's the "Edit" button. It's been a long day. I made the correction in my previous post.

Main Page with Edit button

This is all I ever see. When I click the "Edit" button there is a quick flash and nothing changes. There is no editing screen. Just this same screen over and over again.

Steve,

I uninstalled everything as you suggested. I deleted my original download and got a new zip from the download site. I unpacked it and installed it. I did have the "Default Profile" option now. But when I go to the home page and select wiwi and then click on the "edit" button the screen just flashes and I'm right back where I started from with no editing screen. I'm at a total loss and just a tad bit frustrated.

Any more insight?
