Well, dot5hosting send me an e-mail with this information:
Quote:
To ensure optimum MySQL performance for all our customers, we are limiting the number of queries per login to 50,000 per hour and the duration of individual queries to 60 seconds.

I think this limits are the problem. I didn't had time yet to check and change XOOPS install, so this is what I'm doing:
- Using Xampp, I install an local basic Xoops.
- Upload all files by FTP.
- Using phpMySQL I do a backup in my local installation, and upload this backup on my MySQL's Internet installation.
- Using FTP, edit the mainfile.php to the right values (phisical and virtual path, DB name, etc.)

Well, i'm very glad to see that you liked it!

Actually, i'm working in a XOOPS course for poor comunities in my city Fortaleza, teaching them to made their own website in Xoops. Part of the project is paid by the mayor of the city, with one condition: The material needs to have the Creative Commons License.

This is great for the XOOPS Brasilian Community, because we can provide good material for social and popular communication. Our public: NGO's, churches, popular associations, sports groups, cultural groups, etc.

Again i'm happy that the material seems good, but I must say: it is incomplete! I'm still writing the second part, who will teach about some modules and themes design.

About translate, well, I can translate, but I need time! Of course, i'm very happy in help the community, and it will be a pleasure to help the community. If anyone could help with revision, please contact me! And I can send the original files (in CDR Corel Draw).

Hi everybody,

Well, my on-hand instalation worked fine, and the website is running ok. But the normal installation still isn't working on my host (dot5hosting.com).

Ghia was right: it is not a session problem.

Quote:
it seems it can connect to the MySQL database server in the first place but fails later in the routine.

The first connection, page_dbconnection.php, works fine. But the second connection, page_dbsettings.php, didn't work and redirects to dbcoonection again, now without the values, and without the error message (probabily because the
$error ''
contained in dbconnection).

I'm waiting the answer from my host about limits in concurrent database connections.

I tried the modifications sugested by ghia (close connection, + MySQL error), but it didn't work. I'll try later comment some lines avoiding the first connection in page_dbconnection.php.

Thanks for help!

This is a clear indication that the session is not being saved

Does the XOOPS installer use the /xoops_data folder? The permissions on it are OK.

the script and the database on 2 separate servers

Probably... Localhost doesn't work.

Please Skype me...

Thanks a lot for the help, but i'm without Skype! My 3G internet doesn't support!

Well, i'll try someting hardcore: Install by hand! Will fill the MySQL with an local instalation, and load the right values on mainfile.php by FTP. Let's see what happens!

No, the problem isn't the database limit, cause I have an unlimited plan. And I just create the database before the instalation, with all privileges. I know it's ok because I just installed XOOPS 2.0.18 in the same database!

For those who want to see (I create a database just for tests):

http://www.cacimba.com.br/install

Database testxoops
Database User xoopsuser
Password 12345
Database is on calango.dot5hostingmysql.com

If you put wrong values, it will show the error message.

If you put the right values, it just reloads the page without the entered values.

I'm sorry, but again you are not clear wich folder should have permissions changed.

About the PHP ini, I don't have access to it, as i'm installing on a internet host (dot5hosting.com).

Another test: I pick up the same XOOPS package (2.3.1 ptBr) and installed in XAMPP under my XP, and works fine too. So the XOOPS package is OK.

Does this temp folder is related to the server (Apache)?

I am having the exactly same problem!

Xoops 2.3.1 portuguese
Platform Type Debian
PHP Version 4.4.7
MySQL Version 5.0.45

My instalation didn't go trough the step 5/11. Putting the right data, it just reloads the page without the values I entered. If I put wrong values, it shows the error message.

I tried to install XOOPS 2.0.18 in the same host with the same database and everything run just fine.

What exactly temp name is wrong?

Can I create a XOOPS Package with a couple modules pre-installed? Based on 2.0.16? Any idea?

Modules I want to pre-install: News, Contact and some static pages module.
