If Im not mistaken, PHP, BSD, LGPL and other licenses are different and do allow you to sell works derived from/included with them in many practical situations.

Hello. Im not a lawyer, but here are my thoughts and believes... If they mean anything to you, seek professional clarification.

One big difference between GPL and many other os copyrights/lefts is that ALL software used/distributed with GPL software must be GPL as well. I.E., even if you modify XOOPS heavily and distribute it with non-xoops modules, the modified XOOPS and its modules must be released under GPL as a whole. here is a exert from the GPL

the most important part is the last para of 2.c

Long story short, if the work you create is identifiably different from the GPL program, you can distribute it independently from the GPL program and its code how-ever you want. But if your work is not identifiably different, or if it is being distributed along with part or whole GPL'ed work, then it must be released under GPL.

Hello. I am a student and a PHP, Flash, and Javascript developer in need of some odd jobs to earn some quick money. I am willing to do most small jobs for $25 - $50 dollars and I am willing to haggle over larger projects (1 or more days). I don't require access to your site or services, and I don't expect payment until work is complete... In other words, satisfaction is guaranteed and I never ask for sensitive information. Paypal preferred.

There isn't much that I cant do for XOOPS and it's existing modules - including spamassassin integration, AJAX development, Flash/Javascript integration, Paypal integration, PHP service development, etc.

Sorry for the 404 errors. I ran into a small problem (not related to the IM service, yet pointed out a problem with the IM server). I shut down the site so that I can move my XOOPS installation to a different domain. I am having a problem with the mail server at phpgeek.net . This created a small problem for me because Flash'es security model doesn't allow for a flash movie to load data from a different domain then that which the Flash file was served from, but I cant run the IM server on any other domain then phpgeek.net (requires "root" access). The only good way to fix this is to save a policy file on the sever that the data is being loaded from (a xml file). The problem with this is that the IM server is not a HTTP server... so I need to modify the IM server so that it will also perform a HTTP upload when flash requests the policy file. I have been dreading this, but it will make it a better service :) This will likely take me the majority of the day, but I will have the new link posted soon if anybody is still interested in helping.

Sorry for the title, but I wasn't sure how to sum this post into a few words. I am currently developing a Flash IM service for xoops. I just finished major development and I need people that can test it. I have tested it myself on IE 6.0 and FF 1.5 (both with flash 9), but I need to know how it works on different connection speeds and other versions of browsers / flash players. It is Flash, so no software installation is required.
