I'm considering using XOOPS. Does anyone host with GoDaddy? Is it 'XOOPS compatible' lol or is XOOPS install in the Fantasico section of the cPanel with them?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to XOOPS. I came across it while digging through the Fantastico section of the cPanel for my website. I have a retail website that I converted to a php format about a year ago. I have fallen in love! But the program I use for that is for managing a shopping cart and e-commerce inventory.

I'd like to make a second website, not to sell anything, just to post articles, resource links, photos, fun stuff. I wanted something like my shopping cart though. Just log-in, type in the new content, tell it where to put it, and click submit...in a nutshell. Is XOOPS something that would work well for what I'd like to do?

If I'm not a whiz at web design, is XOOPS easy enough to learn to use right from the start? Like I said, I've done a similar sort of thing for e-commerce with php and that has been fantastic. I am hoping to find something just as easy for the second site I want to do. Are there good visual, step-by-step tutorials available? If anyone else is NOT an expert at web design and has made a site using XOOPS, please post your link...I'd love to see examples of what a webmaster novice can do with it.

Also, if I use a theme, can I modify it? Say I like the design but just want the border in a different color or want to upload my own logo or header?

Edited to add: Can you add HTML scripts? Like scripts for a colored scroll bar, etc. Can any additions like that be saved to the template or would you have to add them back in any time you added something to the site?
