Hi phppp...

Is there an upgrade in the works to the XOOPS Mediawiki?

Am I correct that the XOOPS version is still based on 1.67?

The lowest legacy version Mediawiki offers is 1.6.10.

I ask because the exporting and importing of pages is bordering on being non-functional as most of the page needs to have new (old) markup applied to it...

I've run into several Wikipedia templates that will not function.

Or did I miss something somewhere that allows safe upgrading?

It is a great product, one that I've not seen such tight integration anywhere else, believe me I've looked and have yet to find one.

Thanks...
Moo.

I was recently testing using Yahoo and gmail addresses....nothing was showing up.

Turned out one of the Top level domain name servers got blacklisted by Yahoo....(and apparently gmail)...and it was taking 24-48 hours for the activation to show up...

The ISP was blaming Yahoo...Yahoo blaming the ISP...round and round...

If I used an non-Yahoo or gmail addy...such as from my own domains email server...the email sjowed instantly as expected...

I gave up and installed a CAPTCHA module from the repository here...works very well...

Later I'll look into that new login thingy....

The person that was/is hosting my site upgraded the Xoops. He backed up before upgrading and sent me a copy of the backup ( but according to the extension its not a regular backup if that makes sense)[/quote]

What is the extention? IS it something like tgz?

After the upgrade he said that the site created on the earlier XOOPS was not compatable with the current xoops. This was done almost a year ago. I have a place holder for the site but thats it. This is/was our spca website and I really do not want to lose everything.

If you have a backup, you haven't lost everything...:)

So, to be clear, the backup is a year old. And a "placeholder" has been on your site since then?

Do you know how to login to your website's host?

Did they give you a username and password [DO NOT POST THEM HERE...LOL] with an address to go to if you wanted to administer your website?

Well, yeah. You were supposed to upload the contents of htdocs to your root (assuming that's where you wanted it)...

You want everything inside that folder. Not the folder.

You'll probably have to delete it all and upload it all again unless your host let's you move files via FTP.

When you reinstall, leave the htdocs out of the physical path you used this time....

When you upload a theme or a module you will want the folder that contains it provided the files are directly within the folder...(like htdocs)...:) The exact opposite...

Modules go in modules folder...

Themes go in the themes folder....

Be sure to read any notes with either....:)

I've asked before but here goes...

DATE....become part of the core that modules developers can call...

As it is now, each module devloper is coding their own date format...what one ends up with is some like this on the front page....either before or after a title link...frustrating hacking all that everytime.

2008/2/14

(2008-2-14)

[2008/2/14]

So, guidelines for module devs...enough with the brackets and parentheses....and a set date format with php system-wide for the core...

Oh, and SEO. Because.

In the Syten Admin under Preferences>General Settings there's a Check templates for modifications ? area....did you switch that to Yes? Once resovled you'll want to turn that back off on a live site.

Hi...

I'm not familiar with that module...but I'd probably check over the Preferences inside the modules admin...that's usually where you specify those things...

As for the rollover...can be a bit tricky if you're not used to looking at code and/or CSS....

But if you can locate the DIV or TD that contains that link inside the modules template directory you'll be able to determine the CSS class that it's using....then go in your theme and open the styles.css locate the appropiate class or ID adn make your changes....

My experience....lots f trial and error...and bplenty of back-ups before making changes...;)

edit: Looks I could use some coffee myself! LOL All those typos!

Did you look through the templates for module for the code that makes up the dropdown? I imagine you could either delete it or comment it out without adversely effecting it?

Always backup first!..:)

The content rollback wiki-style is very cool...

I'd go one further is possible....system rollback.

I just had a bit of a go with the 2.0.14 to 2.0.15 upgrade...

Messed up various aspects of three key modules I use...

A one button rollback to a previous state would be very cool and make frequent updating non-problematic (relatively speaking)....

That's a big chuck....but content versioning would be equally cool...

(I just test drove Drupal 4.7.....and decided to stay with XOOPS...)

Just had another thought along those lines...CRONable backups?

FTP doesn't copy correct....can php copy files?
