Thanks for your good replies!

devidl2...
your link goes to a module which i belive is for providing rss feeds.
Maybe i am wrong with this as i am a beginner. if so, i am sorry...
just to make myself clear. I am looking for a module to implement external rss news into my site.
the module should be as easy as possible. I do not need anything special.

serf1...
I have seen somewhere that the xhld module does not work coexisting with the core XOOPS news module. I am using the news module and i am unable change that.
But maybe my information on the xhld module are wrong. any experience?

thanks for further advise!

Hello experts

I would like to use an external rss feed to include in my XOOPS site. how can I do this?
preferably I would like to use standart modules, like for example news. I read that this should be possilbe, but could not find any settings to do so.
thanks for advise !

alternatively if someone could tell me a nice and easy rss reader to use with XOOPS this could help me as well.

thanks to the community for any help!

I could solve the problem with upgrading the news module to version 1.44.
(sorry, in the first case I did not find any upgrades...)

Hello

Version: 2.0.13.2
Modul: News 1.1
Block: "Top Poster"

The Block "Top Poster" is not counting up the number of News a User writes.
I made some tests (SQL Debug) and found out that after a User writes a News Message the "stories" table is beeing updated. so far so good.
Unfortunatly the "Count" field in the "User" table is NOT beeing updated. I could not see any update statements to this table.

On some further tests I saw that if a User writes a Comment, the Block "Top Poster" is beeing upated so this works fine.

thanks for a fix.

OK. I made some research and found the field "count" in the table "User". I belive that this filed should be updated every time a user writes a topic.

but this update does not happen. the field remains on 0. there must be a bug within the code. unfortunatly, in this filed I am a complete novice.

Can someone help!
Thank you.

Hello

The Block "Top Posters" is on my homepage and showing perfectly my users. Unfortunatly there is no count to each user, all are set to 0.

I am trying to find the problem, but so far without success. Can someone help me?
Or does someone can tell me in which table the count should be in?
(with this information I would be able to search some further...)

thanks a lot!

Hi
I am a complete newbe with xoops. but so far i like it much more then the systems i used bevor.
Which were phpnuke, mambo, joomla and i tested various others.

The reason why i like XOOPS is that it is very straight forward, it seems to be easy to learn and for me most important: There is quality behind it! Everything seems to be working and testet bevor it apears on the website for download. even the templates are of good qualitiy.

On other systems i found lot of problems ones you go a little bit deeper into configuration, or changing templates...

xoops just seems to work, thats all i need and i hope it stayes that way.
