Thank you for your responses! I'll be doing backups and giving this a shot. I'll try to remember to come back and let you know how it goes.

Is it possible to update such an old install to the latest and greatest? I can make a back up of everything easily enough but the only update packages seem to be from 2.0.17 to 2.0.17.1. Has any one else made such a drastic update?

Which CMS module is going to get'er done?

So there's 23 CMS modules and I dont really have the time to install and then play with every single one of them so I decided to ask the XOOPS community. Let me throw out there the things I need and then let me know which one you think would get it done for me.

Basically I need to be able to create a mini site with in Xoops. I'd like to have pages that have their own seperate news postings. The ability to assign administrators for only those sub pages/sections would be nice but isnt absolutely necessary. On top of that of course the ability to manage pages from a nice administration menu.

I have no doubt that XOOPS can do this it's just a matter of finding the right module or hacking it right. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Ok the site is most definately fixed by now. Would some one mind taking a look at that little graphical issue now!? It would be much appreciated.

Apparently you didn't read my last post. It did turn out to be a dns issue at my provider. We got it ironed out. The site should be functional for you all some time with in the next 12 hours or so as the new dns entry trickles down. Thanks for keeping an eye on this post and trying to offer help but the real issue should be visible soon.

I'm not sure what the deal is with that. I can hit the page fine and have been making updates. I've had some other people say they have similar issues. It was down over the weekend. I think it might be dns or caching related. Mind giving it another shot tommorrow?

Silly little small issue but kind of annoying. I've taken a copy of the Gold theme from the XOOPS theme repository and modified it slightly for my site. Majority of the code is as is. Mostly color changes in the css. The problem is that in Firefox the file bg-tab-menu.gif does not get displayed but only in the top two bars on the page that surround the header area. In IE they show up fine. I've compared the resulting html and they seem to match perfectly. I've looked carefully at the surrounding html code and nothing seems to be missing or broken. It's the default theme at iccbf.com. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Your suggesting a php include built in to a custom block that calls the news module ?

Thank you for all the responses but I think you guys are missing the point. Getting the pages to display the way I want for the most part is simple. The problem is that news displayed as it is with full headline and story with X number of stories to a page only gets displayed when you click the module link in the main menu or when you set the module as the default module. This method of display as far as I can tell is not available as a block which can then be controlled by access management. If I missed the block that displays that way please let me know what it's called. Thanks again for all the help you guys have been!

Thanks for the info. That worked well but still didn't accomplish what I am after. I would like anon users to see a welcome block(custom block with welcome message) at the top of the page followed by the recent news. I'd like registered users to see a left block of who's online and a right block of coming events with a center block of recent news following that. So basically I cant set a default module I would need to set default module to none and then set block settings in the admin.

Here's the new problem. I cant seem to figure out which of the news blocks just displays the regular plane jane news. Blog style I guess is what you would call it. News is never article size so I just want to display the full story content on the front page.

Is there a way to accomplish this? I've seen quite a few sites using XOOPS that seem to have it done.

I guess the easiest way to put this would be that I want to display the module home page(that you see when you click the news link or set the module as default) only treated like it's a regular block.
