Hi all,

I just installed News 1.2, and now I can't read the various articles in the Topics sections. (I could before in the default news module)

Whats happened?

Is it possible to amend a form in xoops? EG To insert a few new fields like Name, Age and Occupation. Or do I need one of the custom form modules?

Also is it possible to delete the option boxes on a submit page (the URL, Image, Size, Font Add etc).

News Module Questions

Hi There!
Some questions about the News module:

1. How do I get rid of the news items displayed when 'News' is opened up? I would like to add my own text here instead of the submissions appearing. I want my own content here to remain static.

2. How do I get rid of all the function buttons in 'Submit News' (as above on under the list of message icons), IE. from the URL button to the 'Add' button?

3. How do I change the names of buttons in the news module?

Hi,

What I'd like to do is to be able to have one link in the main menu which says, 'Submit confession' which takes you to the form to fill in.

Simple Site

Hi,

After messing around with xoops, I'm finding it a great thing to use. However, I need some help...!

I'm looking to put up a simple site, that requires no registration (which I've managed now). I want the users to simply be able to post a message on the site in a category of their choice (which I've managed to do), which can then read easily.

I've been using the news module for this, and although it's ok, I can't seem to be able to do the simple thing i want.


I want to be able to go straight to the submit news page from the main menu, in fact if anyone would care to look at the site, they'll know what I mean...its http://www.iconfess.co.uk
I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to put a URL in here. Any advice would be brilliant....cheers,

Thanks JD for that. This may help other users, but I was using an old version 3 of Dreamweaver. On the advice of my hosting company, I downloaded Smart FTP which did the trick and all went extremely wll with the installation.

Now having said that, I'm having probs with the login in stages. I can actually login with two names even though I only have the admin one registered, and even then, there is a prob with login into the admin area.

I'll take a look at the FAQ's etc but any further advice would be great!

Hi everyone, and thanks for what looks like a great site.

I'm trying this out for the first time on a bit of webspace I've got with a view to learning what XOOPS can do.

I'm sure this will be the first of many postings so please be gentle with me!!

The first prob I've encountered, is the folders permissions, and changing them. There is just no way I can seem to do this for some reason. Can someone help in pointing me in the right direction? I have the necessary stuff installed on the server. One point I'd like to make is, why aren't these folders already writeable in the first place?

Another thing, when I upload the files to the server, I assume the whole set of unzipped files and folders just sit in the top root folder and not in a folder of its own? IE http://www.xyz.co.uk and NOT http://www.xyz.co.uk/xoops will bring up the wizard.

Silly beginnersd q's maybe, but help will be appreciated.
