The use of tables in a NEWS module(NEWS 2 also fails) story seems virtually useless, if standard HTML is used. When XOOPS renders the page for view by a client even a basic table:

<table>
<tr>
<td>test</td>
<td>test</td>
</tr>
</table>

seems to be rendered with a inordinately large blank space above the table. Not to mention other problems displaying tables that use specific tags.

BTW, this was tested with no other content in the story, just a basic table. So, I guess some HTML tags work with this module and some don't????

I've used <div> <br> <font> and others...had problems with <span> and tags including <class> references to css styles and others...hmmmmm.

I am using the most current version of XOOPS and also the standard NEWS module that comes with it. The NEWS module should allow me to use HTML, however when I place a <table> at the end of the NEWS article the table displays with a large blank space before it, therefore the user has to scroll down on the page to see the table. On top of that the table does not display as it would in a browser (table borders are removed, etc...).

Should I be using a different module?

How do I correct this?

This I have figured out, I was wondering if you can do it without having all left center and right center blocks below center-center blocks...hmmmm.

You know change the order in which blocks are displayed instead of loop all center-center blocks on top..

OK, how do you get Left and Right Center blocks to display below Center Blocks. It seems that all Left and Right Center blocks display above the Center Blocks. Can this be changed???

Well, that works. Suppose I should mess around with the admin menu before changing code.

Thanks,

OK, well I been developing for a while in PHP, HTML, XML, C, C++ and a multitude of other langs.

Anyway, I am looking to use an opensource CMS like XOOPS. I have been looking at some of the themes that can be downloaded on an internal site to my network. Some of them look pretty good!! However, like anyone else minor and sometimes major mods need to take place.

Interesting enough (I can now say I know nothing about XOOPS) I have tried to change some themes, with very minor changes. You know like changing a <a href> tag in theme.html and nothing happens, no change at all. So, I thought well maybe the system defaults to the theme.html.bak file...ha ha ha...yeah, but no. So, then I thought why don't I just delete the theme.html file and the theme.html.bak from the root directory of the theme all together, clear my cache, oh, I don't restart my PC, restart the web server, verify on the server that the files don't exist, change file permissions, you know basically completely (I supposed) screw up the theme so it does not function. Boy talk about stability, the darn theme still works no change, nothing. I'm laughing myself into a delerious state of painfully ignorant bliss...WTF!!

So my question is:

How do you modify a theme?
