Yeah, fingers crossed for News 1.3 soon, with a superdooper menu. If they could get it to display tiny versions of the topic (and subtopic) icon/pictures then that would be great too! But I would settle for a menu that has all the subtopics in it!

I'm also hoping there will be a nice easy "login" block that will let the users have "remember me" so they dont have to log in all the time. I know there is a hack for it somewhere but I don't want to go editing too much, in case I mess something else up!

in the update log for news 1.2.1 it says:

Quote:
> Added block for viewing top-level topics listed - toggle for only view-permitted topics in block preferences

top-level topics

so it doesnt seem to be able to do the same for sub topics as well.

which makes me wonder what this magic block that everyone is using is called!

Aha, I can see it working on your Persian site!
Thats exactly what I want it to look like.

could you tell me the name of that block and also share the editable code you have for that block.

Mine is displaying like a main menu rather than a cool list like yours!

cheers

I'm using News 1.2.1 also!

The subtopics are visible in the drop down box (navigate bar). We want them to be in a list based MENU, like the main menu, but with a list of topics AND subtopics in it.

I don't know why it doesnt work.

Quote:
there is a block called 'navigate thru topics' which shows all topics and subtopics, just like the navigation box does. The only difference is that the subtopics don't have '-' before them, but they are all there and in the right order too

yeah, it doesn't work. There must be something to edit somewhere.

I've installed that 'navigate thru topics' block and when you display it, its only a list of the MAIN TOPICS and doesnt show the sub topics under each category. It lets you see the main ones and not the sub ones, they arent anywhere on the menu

You can see it on my site here:

you'll probably have to sign up first.

I haven't yet no, but I suggest we make your topic the focus and move over there now.

Anyone got an idea for this one, it's quite annoying!
If someone could point at the things i need to call to get a Topic List AND Subtopic list then I might be on my way to figuring it out!

I'm hoping that at some point this thing will find it's way into the News system as an item in a drop down list, as it seems that it's something that a lot of people might want to do for their sites.

You can see the coding change working on my site here is anyone is interested:

Ideas Site

The word count isn't 100% accurate, but certainly enough for my needs, then people can see if its going to be a short idea, or a massive rambling one.

And like I said before, I reckon "words more" is much more friendly and human sounding than "bytes more"!

Cheers!
