Ok, good to know.

It's always nicer to have an easier way to handle many users at once.

Thanks

Any idea when 2.1 will be released? Or the fix for this particular add/remove group issue?

With a site with 29K users, it's a bit hard to manually do the add/remove.

Thanks

Your guide reminded me that I forgot to do the Upgrade the System module. After I did that I could turn off the "broken" modules.

There are a few modules that aren't working, such as the gallery and forum. I'll have to find others to replace them.

Thanks for your guide!

I upgraded my system from RH9 to FC4 today, and in doing so upgraded php from 4.2.x to 5.0.4.

I also had to upgrade XOOPS from 2.0.7.3 to 2.0.9.2 then to 2.0.10.

Both times of upgrade, the menu in the Admin -> System Admin have shown nothing but a five smalle rectangles in the upper left hand corner of the menu.

When I have debug turned on, I get many xoops_versions.php errors on the bottom of the page in the empty white space.

How do I regain access to the System Admin menu?

Thanks
eric

the problem as i see it is that php 4.2.2 is incompatible with the new 4.1.x versions of mysql..

the password hash was changed..

and previous versions will not be able to connect using a non-root password..

i would suggest either upgrading php to 4.3.10 or drop MySQL down to 4.0.x , you could also try MySQL 4.1.9 aswell..

...

I was hoping I would not need to do the upgrade. But, I guess it is for the best.

For the time being, I could get MySQL installed without too many dependency headaches.

I will work on the remaining dependencies (php, apache, etc.)

Thanks for your help!

what versions of php and MySQL etc are you using?

php 4.2.2 and MySQL 4.1.7.

Both unchanged since the original working install of Xoops.

I am attempting a new install of XOOPS (tried both 2.0.7.3 and 2.0.9.2), and when going through the install pages, the error that comes back is:
Could not connect to the database server.
This error only occurs with a non-root user. The root user successfully completes the install and I can log into the XOOPS site.

I also have a working XOOPS site that uses a non-root user. I have also set up the new non-root user to only be able to use its own database, the same way as the other working non-root user.

So, after completing the install with the root user information, I change the mainfile.php information to use the non-root user login. That problem then says:
This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.
If you are the administrator of this site, please visit the XOOPS Troubleshooting Page for assistance.
Error [Xoops]: Unable to connect to database in file class/database/databasefactory.php line 34
So, then I change back to the root user, and it all works again.

For obvious reason, I don't want to keep the site running with the root login.

I have deleted, added, flushed, etc, the user tables, but I can't figure out this one.

To make this more interesting, I can log in tot he DB through the command line with the non-root user information I want to use and select the correct DB and show the tables, etc.

Any ideas where lies the problem?

thanks
eric

but i use it for 2 month and it shows the "qoute" button.
so i think you do somthing wrong on this module.
do you update templates?

I honestly don't know. I was not the person to update/install the module. Fortunately, there are only two people who have that type of access. Unforuntately, I would be the only to remember such a detail. :)

is this a fresh install or upgrade?
btw why you use this old module? why not use newbb2 or any other phpbb port modules

The site was installed in October. AFAIK, the only modules added have been custom created ones.

Where would I get other forum modules? I don't see any in the "Module Repository"? Where would I find other Forum mods?

Thanks
eric

what is your problem with quote in forum? what is forumex?
you mean newbbex created by samuel?

ForumEx is a version of forum based on phpBB and XOOPS Forum.

The problem with quote is that the "quote" button does not exist. So, if I want to respond to a post and quote some of the original, I can't easily quote since I do not have that button.

Ok. I was able to get into the database and see that the directory being used is newbbex, which means that yes, I am using the newbbex forum. (When I get the information for the module though, it shows "Hervé Thouzard Based on XOOPS forum made by Kazumi Ono". So, I don't know who is Samuel.

It also shows version 1. And, my DB tables are xoops_bbex_{name}.

The logo/icon in the modules admin section is showing "forumEx".

Should the "quote" feature be turned on be default? Or, is it a function of the theme?

Thanks
eric
