cant get custom session time to work

my users are complaining about having to log in every time they go to the site. I thought that I could bump up the session time to help.

I have chose the "custom session" radio button
and I put in 10080 for the time (1 week)
my site uses php version 4.3.4
I also have cookies saved for 1 year.

However, I still have to login each time.


any ideas why I'm not staying logged in?

what does "Site Info" block do?

all I can get it to do is show the Webmaster avatar.

I was hoping it would show how many members there are, how many articles, etc.etc.

yeah, that's the same browser version I am using.....hmmm

I remember a post a while back about Mozilla and Firewalls.....do you think that may have something to do with it? I am behind a firewall at work and I dont have mozilla at home.....maybe I should try it at home and see.

you can go there and browse the site all day long and be fine....it's when you try to log in that there is problems.

I reverted back to the default theme to be sure that wasnt it and it still happens.

I have installed XOOPS and use the karate_redux blue theme and everything is working fine with internet explorer. My problem is when I try to use Mozilla Firefox, as soon as I log in Firefox errors out and closes.

Is this a know issue? any fix?

what kind of difficulties if it is even possible will I face if I want to upgrade from a forum that is phpBB to the XOOPS forum?

so the only way to do it with the version I have is to delete the forum and re add them in the correct order?

I guess I better make damn sure I have them in the right order before I go live with my site.....or upgrade.
