I actually got a very good response in the other thread I mentioned above that points to the solution of fixing notification.inc.php. After applying that, my notifications now work correctly for the forum and other modules.

Maybe that could help you, too? Do you get any PHP errors in PHP debug when you post something as a user and XOOPS is supposed to go through the notifications?

Thanks so much for pointing me into the right direction. I was using search before posting but obviously I didn't look for the right words.

The new version of notification.inc.php that is posted in that thread fixes the problem.

Will that be somehow incorporated into the main release?

Best regards,

Thanks for the PHP debug hint, I guess I found the problem:

Quote:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare newbb_notify_iteminfo() (previously declared in C:\htdocs\main\modules\newbb\include\notification.inc.php:28) in c:\htdocs\main\modules\newbb\include\notification.inc.php on line 28
Notice [PHP]: Undefined index: nosmiley in file C:\htdocs\main\modules\newbb\post.php line 166
Notice [PHP]: Undefined index: icon in file C:\htdocs\main\modules\newbb\post.php line 167
Notice [PHP]: Undefined index: attachsig in file C:\htdocs\main\modules\newbb\post.php line 168

This happens when a user submits a new post. Unfortunately, my XOOPS knowledge is not so far yet that I would see how I can fix it.

Any hints for a new XOOPS lover but beginner?

- default newbb version 1 of XOOPS 2.0.7.3

- no hack in files from my side

- additional modules are: symantec alert, wf-channel

The site is www.tonsil.ch. I'll work on the PHP debug later today.

I opened a new thread because I think the two issues could be related:

Forum post / notification problem (hangup?)

As I see in this forum, there should be "successfully submitted" response with a redirect after a post.

Do you also have empty pages after posting?

Empty page after forum post - Kind of notification hangup?

My XOOPS 2.0.7.3 forum shows an empty white page after a post to the forum with no redirect or anything. The browser stays on /newbb/post.php on the empty page. Though the post itself works and is stored, it is quite inconvenient. Different people tried it with different browsers (mostly IE and Firefox).

There is an additional forum problem that I mention here because it could be related to the first: Forum notifications do not work for me. There are absolutely no forum notifications sent. global, forum or thread level, whatever.

I post both of these issues because I think the new post might have a notification problem. Therefore the notification does not work and the final response does not get back to the client. Is this a valid assumption for further tracking of this issue?

What can I do to fix it or at least further analyze it? Anybody else with the same problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your quick response! Well I actually got a PM notification triggered by your forum post here. Is that enabled by the PM hack you mentioned? I changed to email notification here now so I'm wondering if I'll get any more notifications.

There is actually another issue in my XOOPS Forum which I'll post in a different thread but would like to asks you as well directly: After posting a forum comment, I only get an empty page and the browser stays there. I guess there should be a post confirmation and redirect response instead.

Maybe my forum setup is a bit shaky. I wonder how I can fix it. I'm using 2.0.7.3.

I experience exactly the same problem. User mails from the admin menu and new user registration notifications work. So the email setting itself seems to be correct.

Forum notifications do not work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have exactly the same and I'll try to go back to PHP 4 immediately. Thanks for your second post anyway.

In the XOOPS specs it says PHP 4.1.1 or newer. PHP 5 should be newer shouldn't it
