Hey

I'm pretty fed up with logging in every time I return to my site so I was thinking about enabling custom sessions with durations of more than 15minutes.

Now, the FAQ says user connections arent closed when somebody leaves the site but remain active for as long as the session lasts. Why isnt the duration stored in cookies that are checked whenever somebody comes to the site? That way I could probably set the duration to say 1440 (24 hours) without screwing the database up with too many connections?

I'm using XOOPS 2.0.10.

Hi guys

After 9 months a lot has changed on my site and I'd like to read your opinions.
URL still is planetsmilies.com.

Here are some screenshots:

a) A member's profile
I moved the signature box to the bottom and contributions to the right because sigs tend to be wider (especially when they include images). Replaced the buttons with images (+mouseovers). I also removed the odd/even cycling cause I usually find it distracting. Here you can also see one of the ranks.

b) Lost Password
Having fun with css and the legend tag here. In the end I was going to remove it because I like to keep things simple but it just looked so... cool... I had to keep it.

c) Your Inbox
Moved the top nav to a bottom row which is the common thing all over the site. Other than that, I rearranged the buttons a bit and added a key to the icons.

d) A private message
Not much to say here. Again I rearranged things to make messages easier to read. Subject and icon at the top, user info on the left, message and date on the right, buttons and nav in the bottom row.

e) Some galleries
This is a custom script I wrote. I'm thinking about changing the colors on the counter but whatever I try I cant seem to get both readability and coolness 100% right.

f) Forum mainpage
Yeah this is newbb1 so unfortunately no exact time stamps but I like the looks now. Search and Adv Search follow up pages are not skinned yet. Again, no even/odd cycling. Dates and counters in a row at the top.

g) A forum topic
This one I merged from actually two screenshots so you can see both top and bottom nav. A typical topic has more than 3 posts.

Comments?

Is there a way to have posts' timestamps include the exact time (hours and minutes) without upgrading to newbb2?

And I mean without changing the global format settings in \language\english\global.php. In other words, I want newbb1 to have another time format than the rest of the modules.

Mmm I did not just change the file's extension. I exported as zip, and later as uncompressed sql. Both return the same msg.

The backup does look like a normal sql file. No

in there. I guess thats just part of the error message.

Yeah I read the FAQ & I know how to migrate. ;)

I'm still having trouble with my XOOPS installation, and the site is down more time than not.

But as noone here seemed to know what to do I downloaded a new version, spent 2 months adjusting it and am now ready to migrate the old database over. Or so I thought. I tried with backups from Peter Nagl's Backup mod and exported ones from phpmyadmin.

Here's what comes up when I run them on the new db:

Quote:

Error
There is a chance that you may have found a bug in the SQL parser. Please examine your query closely, and check that the quotes are correct and not mis-matched. Other possible failure causes may be that you are uploading a file with binary outside of a quoted text area. You can also try your query on the MySQL command line interface. The MySQL server error output below, if there is any, may also help you in diagnosing the problem. If you still have problems or if the parser fails where the command line interface succeeds, please reduce your SQL query input to the single query that causes problems, and submit a bug report with the data chunk in the CUT section below:
----BEGIN CUT----

----END CUT----

----BEGIN RAW----

----END RAW----

SQL-query :

MySQL said:

#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'PK' at line 1

I dont know crap about MySQL but that must be the primary key? Well what should I do? What could have caused this? Could this be the reason the old site is so fup?
