Hi,

my site has recently been unavailable due to this error message:

Warning [PHP]: main(/home/xoopsno/public_html/kernel/object.php): failed to open stream: Too many open files in file include/common.php line 85

Any clues?

News 1.2 classic view problem

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has found a solution to the news 1.2 module not showing the news in Classic mode. I'm experiencing this on all my sites, including the setup on my home computer.

CLearing out Templates_c does not work. It did work 'once', when I reinstalled, but installing a new theme made it go away again.

Are there any alternative news module that can be recommended, it seems the News 1.2 just wasn't meant for me :) ?

And in case you were refering to the original phpBB2, you can find a XOOPS mod here --> bbpixel.com

Since this was pulled back I haven't examined the package, but in the release notes it says:

Quote:
For users currently running 2.0.6, extract xoops-2.0.6-to-2.0.7.patch.zip or xoops-2.0.6-to-2.0.7.patch.tgz and just overwrite the old files with the new ones. After that, 'update' the system module from the module admin section to apply the changes made to template files of these modules.

If this file isn't present you have to edit mainfile.php to reflect your settings.

This must be one of the most common problems I see. The reason that you don't see any changes when you edit template files, are most likely because you didn't turn on the "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?" option in Preferences/General settings.

I get .404 errors when I try to follow your links.

EDIT:

Ok now, probably posted before you uploaded the images :)

If you refer to the image in the headline, in my theme it's defined in the .itemHead class in the css file.

Personally, I've just recently moved to XOOPS from Postnuke. What I liked about XOOPS where the extremely helpful and forthcoming community. I did look at several others, and since I don't consider myself to be a programmer (not a good one, anyway :)) the thing that attracted me to XOOPS where the easy install, the community and developers, and that it seemed easier to customize than most.

I think these qualities makes it stand out amongst the cms crowd. For me, as a non programmer at least, these were the factors that made me choose Xoops.
