EDIT: Fixed both online and newusers by reinstalling the system module. Thanks anyhow

John

Hello again,

I have run into another roadblock.

XOOPS Version: 2.2.3a-Final
Module Name/Version: unkown
PHP Version: PHP 4.4.0
MySQL Version: Latest or unknown
Web Server Software (Apache/IIS/Other): Apache
Operating System: OpenBSD
Theme you are using: 240blackxps from:http://www.goxoops.com/

Custom template: (No)
MySQL Debug Messages: None
Smarty Debug Messages: None

A full description of the issue: Unable to turn off date stamp in new users block.

Template edit lets me delete the following information but does not save:

<table cellspacing="1" class="outer">
  <{foreach
item=user from=$block.users}>
    <
tr class="<{cycle values="even,odd"}>" valign="middle">
      <
td align="center">
      <{if
$user.avatar != ""}>
      <
img src="<{$user.avatar}>" alt="" width="32" /><br />
      <{/if}>
      <
a href="<{$xoops_url}>/userinfo.php?uid=<{$user.id}>"><{$user.name}></a>
      </
td>
      <
td align="center"><{$user.joindate}></td>
    </
tr>
  <{/foreach}>
</
table>

The
<td align="center"><{$user.joindate}></td>
is only seen in the template configuration, but using vim to manually edit this file it shows as this:

<table cellspacing="1" class="outer">
  <{foreach
item=user from=$block.users}>
    <
tr class="<{cycle values="even,odd"}>" valign="middle">
      <
td align="center">
      <{if
$user.avatar != ""}>
      <
img src="<{$user.avatar}>" alt="" width="32" /><br />
      <{/if}>
      <
a href="<{$xoops_url}>/userinfo.php?uid=<{$user.id}>"><{$user.name}></a>
      </
td>
    </
tr>
  <{/foreach}>
</
table>

I have deleted this block and retried to make the date disappear. Is there another system_block_newuser.html file somewhere? The one in: /modules/system/templates/blocks is the only instance of this I can find. So I am quite puzzled as to what file XOOPS is working with and what file I am working with. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

John

Hello,

I am having problems with the "whos online" not working. The block is loaded, but nothing shows up. I have tried to see if it was a permissions error, but have not found the exact file the "whos online" block uses.

A full description of the issue: Online block not showing any content. I see what seems to be an error (smarty class error) (and a lot more errors...) but do not understand or know how to address/fix the current issue.

I have searched as well as I think I could have, the forums and Google using the following keywords:

Xoops online block
online block
Xoops online

I saw one message asking for help from a person with the same exact issue, but no reply.

Any help would be appreciated in this matter.

Thank you

I asked my sever to change my php settings.

register_globals = on

and now it works in my server..

My webhosting provider said he added that information to the .htaccess file and restarted httpd.

I still cannot do anything with the forums, on neither one of our sites:

http://www.cllug.org
http://www.linux-militia.net

Please advise

What exactly was changed to add the "register_globals = on" ?

I cant believe this.. damn..

Ok

It seems the permissions where off for the files in the forum Newbbex directory.

The files where only rw, I had to make them r for all.

Anyhow, now the forumEx or Newbbex module installed.

But it has the same problem as the newbb forum module also.

It lets you create a "Category" but it wont successfully let you create a forum under the "Category" itself.

And if you hit the webpage, and then the forum as a registered user, you still do not see anything of any of the newly created "categories"

The forum setup page for newbbex looks exactly like it did with newbb, down on the bottom on the left hand side it says "menu" but it does not show anything to click on.

Anyhow.. just thought I would post what I have done, and to add my info in case others are stuck in the same rutt as I am.

Thank you

Sincerely,

TriKster Abacus

Well,

Back again ready for some more anti TriKster flames and aggressive hate..

Ok, I backed up my /modules/newbb/ directory locally.

I removed the module and uninstalled it from the admin section.

Then I deleted the /newbb directory completely off of the server.

Where do I get this module again to replace it?

I did a search in "downloads" and did not find any newbb modules.. and a global search on the xoops.org webpage came back with zero info either.

Also I did a seach on google and on the xoops.org site for "phpbb" and "xoops + module + phpbb" .. still noting

But I did find a module named: Newbbex

I uploaded the newbbex module directory into the onsite's module directory, then went to the admin page and tried to install/add the module, but I only see this error above where the module is supposed to be (the uninstalled modules)

"Module File for Not Found!Module File for Not Found!Module File for Not Found!Module File for Not Found!Module File for Not Found!"

And an empty spot where the new module is supposed to be that says:

"Module File for Not Found!"

I also did a global xoops.org search for "module installation".. I will just note: 8-(

Do I have to set some kind of permissions to make this module work?

This is very disheartening and I am about to lose my hair/mind over this problem.

I am sorry if I appear to be pretty much an "ignoramus" about this problem.. I am no webmaster or php guru by any means..

Just a guy tryin to get his domains up and running online.

Please advise

Thank you

Sincerely,

TriKster Abacus

I would uninstall the forum, and all the versions of the forum you have on your server again, and do a clean install--there is "already existing language defines" on your system in newbbpro

I am getting more confused by the minute.

Ok, when you say "uninstall" do you mean, to go into the admin section and remove the "forum" module?

Do you also mean to say ftp into the directory where the forum modules existed and delete them completley from the server?

And then you go onto say to "do a clean install"

A clean install of what? The whole XOOPS? or just the module for the forum? If just the module, where do I get this module from?

If not, and you are actually suggesting to "nuke" the whole site and start from scratch.. then that I cannot do.. Wipe out 3 existing sites.. and redo them again!? Are you guys serious?

Crap..

This is getting messier by the day..

Are there no XOOPS developers monitoring these forums?

Why can't someone just fix the stupid forums module and tell us chickens how to properly install it and get things rolling again?

Please advise

Thank you

Sincerely,

TriKster Abacus

This is absolutley crazy, I have posted this problem to 3 differnt XOOPS forums, and nobody seems to have a solution or fix to this problem, I have recieved numerous "views" on my topic, but not one reply.

Not even the XOOPS dev people are helping with this.

Nothing was worked to fix the problem, updating system, updating forums.. the modules.. etc.. etc..

I even grabbed a the newbb directory from an older version of XOOPS and replaced the one in XOOPS 2.0.6, that almost nuked my whole setup.

This is bullcrap.

I have put a lot of time into getting my sites up and running, and one of the most important things about my sites are the ability to collaborate and discuss things using the FORUM!

I am still running 1 site with phpnuke, if someone doesnt provide a fix for this problem I will be forced to switch all my other sites, and install for my new up and coming sites to phpnuke.

I really liked XOOPS, and was told it was the best thing out there.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

Thank you

Sincerely,

TriKster Abacus

I have tried absolutley everything I could to make the forum admin work.

Something must be wrong.. either we do not have a databases setup for the XOOPS forums.. or something is wrong with this new release. (2.0.6)

We have tried from 3 different people's homes, and 3 different ISP connections.. and 2 different operating systems.

All 3 of us are having the same problem. We can make the category itself (even though it does not show up when you click on the "forums" link).. and also we are unable to make the forum for each category.

I thought with me it was some kinda java-script/Linux/mozilla/opera issue, as on creation of a new forum there is a gif on the bottom left side of the forum edit/admin screen that says "menu".. as if there was supposed to be something there under the "menu", but in fact nothing shows up..

Are we missing a module? we activated all but 2 modules for all of the sites/domains. We are using the newest release of XOOPS, fresh off of the xoops.org website.

Please help!

This is holding back 3 new domains atm, and 3 on the way... for a total of 6 domains that the forums wont work on.

We dont want to go back to phpnuke.. we like our sites as they are and like the ease of use with XOOPS.

Thank you

Sincerely,

TriKster Abacus
