Does anyone know where I can get hold of Avatars and Quotes to upload?

Not too sure if I missed something but there no longer appear to be avatars supplied with XOOPS like there used to be.

Also, I do recall some time ago that someone offered a list of Quotes for one of the Random Quote Modules. I have downloaded WF-Quotes although don'nt have to use that particular module. I would love to get my hands on a table poulated with a bunch of quotes if possible.

PHP Extensions Load error

I have recently upgraded to PHP v 4.3.3 on my local machine and am having problems with the loading of extensions.

A particular survey script that I'm trying to evaluate requires v 4.2 or higher as well as having 4 of the extensions enabled. I have set the extension dir variable in the ini file to:-

extension_dir = "c:\php\extensions"

But everytime I run a php page I get an error saying that it cannot find the extension module. Now, the modules are all in the directory and the path is correct.

Any ideas??

BTW, I'm using Win XP and IIS 5.

Thanks

Upgrading from v1 RC3 to v2.05 - quick question

Just a quick question :-

When upgrading from v1 RC3 to v2.05 should I simply overwrite the existing installation files or should I delete the entire site and then upload v2? If I delete the existing files will the installation detect that it is an upgrade?

thanks

I have been running XOOPS since it was first released in early January 2002 and have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever.

The time has come, however, for me to upgrade my site to Version 2 but I don't see an upgrade script anywhere. Am I mistake or does the installation detect a previous installation?

I have almost 2 years worth of postings etc and about 50 members which I am not willing to lose.

Can anyone tell me which download I must take that will enable me to upgrade my site.

thanks

Fireeater, I don't want to put you down but both I and the other member stated quite clearly that we HAD selected a moderator!

Fortunately for me I am English so I can fully understand what is required. Problem is - IT DOES"NT BLOODY WORK! PERIOD!

Its as simple as that! There is obviously a bug somewhere though quite what its related to is anybody's guess. I'm using Win 2000 and IIS so there's no chmod issues. Also, I'm doing it on my local machine - I never install and test on my live server. It may well be that its a PHP setting issue but I honestly don't know.

its kinda like the Log In bug that was in RC1 - after installing you could login, be welcomed but not logged in! You could log in again and again you would get the welcome message but STILL would'nt be logged in. Strange how, after posting a message about it and getting no helpful answer the problem miraculously disappeared when RC2 came out!

I'm sure that it will come out in the wash fairly soon but both the Category and Forum creation do not work.

Now, if only I could find out why the Threaded display mode does'nt work for me anymore!!!

I reported this bug yesterday and was assured that they would investigate it.

It actually does create the category but for some reason does'nt save the description. If you look at the table you will see the records.

Unfortunately, after I manually entered the descriptions I still could'nt create any forums. This is a funny one as it simply tells you that one of the fields has been left blank even though are'nt any.

Hopefully a fix will appear soon.

Thanks, that did the trick for me!

Man, I am going to enjoy this - all I need now is a decent "free" hosting site and I'll be away.

I will let you know when I manage to get a site up and running.

Permission problems after installation.

After having installed (successfully) I have activated all the necessary modules I require but whenever I click on one of them to configure it I get a permissions error!

Also, if I try and run the site by pointing to INDEX.PHP I also get a permissions error.

I'm sure there's something I'm not doing correctly but don't really know what it is - I am logged on as ADMIN

What I have tried to do is go to System Admin, Modules and then select either Forum or Polls etc to configure them (after having activated them) but I get rejected each and every time!

Any ideas?

That does'nt make any difference either!

I'm not 100% sure but it appears that it is'nt processing the Code after the NEXT button is pressed!

Unfortunately I can't seem to get PHP DBG to debug the file. But, after pressing Next the value of OP should be "Initial" and then it should drop into the SWITCH block. However this does not appear to happen.

ALso, I notice that the NEXT button does'nt actually do anything - ie. there's no ONCLICK action or anything.

I really don't know what else it could be - I tried altering the Root path as suggested - even used forward slashes but nothing works. There certainly does'nt appear to be anything wrong with the config as I'm at the correct point in the installation where all is OK - it should proceed from there to the INSTALL_INIT function but does'nt.

Any other ideas?
