Maaan, I would love this feature. In fact I really need it. Otherwise I can only have private forums. I have a site for an elemetary school class. They should not be able to post whatever they want. Their parents will be very annoyed. However forums are very nice. Just this one feature would be so wonderful. Can the newbb system use the same code as the comment system? It seems this would work well.

I use both. All I can say is the XOOPS is very hackable. This is good for me.

IMHO:

typo has been developed in a very strange manner. While many peeps on thier mailing list are all so defensive and will brag about it, I think there are so many things that are broken. There's lots of, as I would call, hair brained ideas.

Xoops is not perfect, but you can fix it up to work very well for you.

So is 2.0.7 due anytime soon? I'm looking forward to it! Thanks for the quick response. I wish you the best.

So I can edit the template. But if someone still knows the URL they can edit their post, no? I guess I'll be happy with editing the template for now. Many thanks.

I would like to disable the ability to edit comments. Is there a simple way to do this before I spend hours editing templates and php files? Please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

comments view (threaded; nested; flat)

I'm not sure if this post goes here, so please correct me if I'm wrong. Here goes:

My XOOPS installation has never remembered the comments view setting that you specify in "edit account" It never remembered the theme either. I installed another module for the theme picker.

I still have the problem with the comments. It always defaults to threaded. I even set the default comments view to nested it the system preferences and it still doesn't work.

Any ideas? Has anyone had this problem before?

I would even be happy if I could hard set it to only view as nested.

Thanks for any help.

I find Xaraya may be to server demanding. It's also a bit over kill for some projects. Mambo doesn't have templates or smarty.

Xoops has a great place in the CMS market. I could even make some commercial sites with it because it's very hackable. I do not like unhackable overly complex systems like typo. This is just a piss off. You end up doing more work fixing bugs that the cms is worth.

One more thing is there are few errors in the English language files. I can send you my corrections if you like.

I haven't tried it yet. However, I wanted to point out that the permissions on the upgrade script are set to 600 when uploaded from a win box. This will cause one to be unable to run the script. Please fix this before trying to run the script.
