serverGRIDS.com.

I am building a business directory and search tool for the next phase of computer evolution - grid computing.

grid computing started out in scientific research where 1000s of computers are linked together using a Globus Toolkit to work seemlessly to solve math and other sci. problems.

Well, companies like Oracle, HP, IBM, Sun see this as a natural progression away from large honking servers - costing millions of dollars - to 100s of high-performance LINUX server blades (1-2 CPUs) with SAN/NAS storage in the terrabytes.

I might be a little to early to the same, but would rather get this type of thing built, rolled out and registered with the search engines as the big companies spread the marketing $$$$'s on grid computing. I am betting the farm it will take off...timing is EVERYTHING....

thanks in advance for your feedback...BTW...if you have something you want to register, feel free to add it to the correct category or post in this forum what category you need and I will make it so...

I am trying to edit the theme.html for a theme i borrowed and trying to change the top navigator bar to match my left nav bar - doh wut a concept...

<td width="100%" class="topnav">
<!-- navibar set -->
<a href="<{$xoops_url}>/">Home</a>
&nbsp;•&nbsp;
<a href="<{$xoops_url}>/modules/xoopsfaq/">FAQ</a>
&nbsp;•&nbsp;
<a href="<{$xoops_url}>/modules/news/">News</a>
&nbsp;•&nbsp;
<a href="<{$xoops_url}>/modules/newbb/">Forums</a>
&nbsp;•&nbsp;
<a href="<{$xoops_url}>/modules/xdirectory/">Directory</a>
&nbsp;•&nbsp;
<a href="<{$xoops_url}>/search.php">Search</a>
</td>

is supposed to give me top horizontal nav bar like:

FAQ News Forums Directory Search

BUT is giving me the OLD one instead:

Home • News • Forum • Download • Search • Gallery

what am I forgetting or doing wrong? Do you have the REFRESH the theme or something ??? I cleared out IE browser cache so its not caching...

Any help appreciated.

Can I ask a HUGE favor of my fellow techies ??? Goto my site - www.servergrids.com - and let me know if you get errors.

I have been experiencing outages (Error 500, 504, etc) yesterday and today repeatedly trying to build the darn site content (categories) out on all the modules. Makes it tough to know things are working with 404s, 500s, etc.

I called / emailed Yahoo today, spoke with escalation mgr in tech support and got nowhere. I asked why mySQL DB instance was bounced without me knowing it, who does that, and why the web servers seem to die and recover intermittedly. No reply, just good luck. What a crappy support model that is. They defer to an email black hole which you get the std "you must provide a test case" BS...so I give them steps 1-25 to reproduce and they dont respond.

Now I am paying $19.95/month USD for this "service". Somebody out there has got to have a success story better than what is in this forum. Please help !!!

I see frequently something i'd like to implement but basically being a newbie to XOOPS I am having technical difficulty, so am coming to group for your experiences.

if you visit sites likehttp://gordon.farsus.dk/modules/mydownloads/topten.php?rate=1

you will see a nice (outta-da-box) left navigation section on the left, content in middle, right area for more modules.
that is straightforward enuff...what i dont know how to do is create a nice horizontal navigation bar under the top banner. that is the mystery .

anyone know how to do this? is it a custom module?

thanks in advance,

GG
