sorry Jensclas,

I made the search and read about the existence of a module called Extended Profiles for XOOPS 2.2 but I use XOOPS 2.0.14 that you recommend to use.

I didn't found no module called Extended Profiles. Is there something similar?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply!

I will search it thanks. I wanted those features for an idea I have on that, so maybe I can learn something and make a module or a hack or something.
I will check, thanks again.

Hello!

I use Xubuntu as operative system. Xubuntu is an easy version of Debian Linux:

http://www.xubuntu.org/

Uses very few resources so you can run a server in graphic desktop mode or run it in text mode if your pc is hardware limited.

Xampp is a mixture of Apache+MySQL+Perl+PhP. You just have to unzip it to get all working.

http://www.apachefriends.org/en/index.html

I try to run my own server this way, and at the moment it seems to be going well.
How can I, in my situation, save all my server data. I mean, all the MySQL XOOPS database, the entire site, etc.

I saw that there is a module called "XOOPS DB Backup & Restore 3.0". This does the job??

Is there a simple and manual way to do this?
As I can access my server machine, I can copy or backup all directly. What is the way to make the backup? How often do you recommend me to backup the information?

Thanks for your help!

Jordi

Hello!

I am new and I want to thanks all XOOPS community for their hard work on building all this. I think XOOPS is the best CMS ever existed. I looked a lot of them, and compared with the others, and I am very happy with Xoops.

Thanks for doing all this awesome good work, and releasing this as GPL!

The issue is that I want to make my own modules. Is there any manual for this? I checked the faqs and docs and didn't found.
Please tell me. I saw in some faq a note about mypage module that I suppose is the core of a simple module, but I would like to know more on how to build my own modules. Maybe I could contribute with this some day, though my knowledge in XOOPS now is very little.

Thanks again,

Jordi

Hello!

I just joined and I like very much Xoops. I am running XOOPS in Xubuntu with Xampp (the three with X, hahaha).

It runs allright, is a really intuitive and good CMS. I am really surprised on how a great work and impressive look and feel it has. You did an awesome GOOOOD work!

Thanks for releasing this as GPL so much of us have the freedom to use this for personal or commercial, because this gives us the opportunity to start with little economical effort. I think that programmers like you, that make GPL projects, are benefactors of all humanity, and I allways defend you in all places when people talk about this.

I have just 2 suggestions:

1) I don't know if I can extend user profiles to add some new fieds to their profiles. Have you thought of it? If you did, how can I do this?

2) I saw in some places when you join a community, they give you a textbox in the suscription to say some words introducing you to the group, that is published with your avatar and says "New member " plus your nickname, and your salutation to the group. I allways liked this idea, and I think it increases group cohesion, so I think you should add. If not , will I be able to add this like a module or something?

Thanks a lot for your time.

Xoops 2.0.14: md5 checksum reported an error in 4 mirrors

Hello,

I am new to Xoops. I really like this CMS very much, I just started a week ago and I already have my server configured and I am inserting modules. I can't believe it! How easy is! And I am amazed on how you did such an impresive and GOOD work, and be so generous to release this in GPL for the benefit of all humanity! Thanks a lot!

Now, the problem:
I installed and everything seems to work ok.
I downloaded the 2.0.14 version of XOOPS from here, and did the md5 checksum with the files you provide. I get this error:

"
./class/mail/xoopsnultimailer.php content invalid
./class/xml/rpc/xmlrpcparser.php content invalid
./kernel/privmessage.php content invalid
End of files check.
"

So I tried to start again, I downloaded 4 times the same version of XOOPS from 4 different mirrors and got the same message.
I am running XOOPS on Xubuntu ( like Ubuntu with Xfce desktop. Ubuntu is similar to Debian but easier ) and I use XAMPP as Apache+MySQL+PhP.

But as I read that md5 checksum was added to last version, and it was experimental, I suppose maybe you have to fix something. So I proceed with the install and all seems to be OK.

Why this happens? did you make an error in the md5 file with some number? Or is my fault? How to fix this ?

Thanks.

Jordi
