Re: Well, What Now?

You apologize for your attitude and then talk the same way in the same post later. Just read the documentation first and you would see you were wrong.

It's plainly here if you lookhttp://wiki.xoops.org/wakka.php?wakka=InstallGuide

Read under "installing locally" and "installing on hosted platform"

xf_cssbasic download - read the forums there, the theme is given to registered members. You could just ask him for it.

Re: Main Menu

Did you try moving it to the top of the code? I created my own main menu through a custom block because I wanted my links to be in a certain order and that was the easiest way. But I do believe the answer to your question may be on the forums somewhere. It's been awhile since I seen it though.

Re: Well, What Now?

I hate to say this but you have an attitude problem, ricland. You are putting down XOOPS without bothering to do any work to make your site better. You seem to expect it to do everything for you by itself but you have to do some of the work. If you don't want to work on creating your site for your own preferences then you should forget about cms's and go back to basic html site creation. XOOPS is new to you and to use it correctly, you have to do research and read documentation, and do your own experimenting. I had to work to get my XOOPS site to look like I wanted it. Everyone does.

Re: Well, What Now?

I edited my post above to answer the diffs question. You don't upload anything in the XOOPS folder except what is inside the html folder. You don't even upload the html folder itself, just what is inside that folder. The extras folder contains another theme and it's template, That is installed into your themes folder on your server.

You don't have to register at 7dana.com to get free XOOPS themes. You don't have to register at 4thefort (I believe) to get free XOOPS themes.

There is a themes.xoops.org coming soon here and a modules.xoops.org.

Re: Well, What Now?

BTW, the extra folder contains a template. Plus you don't need to upload the diffs or extras folder to install xoops, just what is IN the html folder.

Re: How do I download XOOPS documentation ?

You can just use your browser to save it to your hard drive. Click file, save page as and it will save everything to your hard drive and you can then view it offline later.

Re: Newbie Theming

You can edit your main menu and user menu in your style.css to have the same style settings as used by your other blocks. The other blocks usually use the "outer" style. You can find out what style function they are using by going to your blocks admin and clicking on edit by the block you want them to look like and then clicking on the edit template. There it should have a style named, like outer, and you can then look for the outer setup in your style.css and copy what it says there to your main menu and user menu settings. Play around with it until you get it looking like the other blocks.

Just make sure you save a backup copy of your style.css in case you mess up bad and need the original back.

Re: Can't write in the database anymore

Can you try backing up your XOOPS database through your control panel's backup feature, then upload the saved backup copy to recreate the database again? This is just a suggestion but maybe this will help. Also you could try reinstalling your XOOPS installation and then uploading your database backup. Starting a fresh installation may fix your problem. But just make sure you have your XOOPS database backed up first.
