Re: I need help/ small job

These small changes in theme and templates you'll be able to do by own hands, sure
1.Columns width defined in theme's CSS
I see, you use 7dana-soft, thus - in left and right column you have invisible image 160.gif, which dictates td width (bad style, BTW) - kill it and move definition to css or truncate to 100 pixels from current

Space between images can be changed by editing some of templates from module xcgallery.
Find padding: 10px; and replace 10 pixels with more appropriate value in template
Location of blocks you can change in Block Management in Administration - System section

wanted to know if there is any way to increase the time that my members actually appear to be online...
It's not a file, but "session timeout" in Site Configuration (works only with one type of session, AFAIK)

Re: Registration Keys 2!!

Well, only one question - is it possible with your module perform ordinary "old-style" registration (without key and place into default "Registered Users" group)?
I can check it by testing on live site, but I'm tooo lazy...

any thing you could sugest that could go there?

I'm not a designer (and even haven't designer's spirit), I'm only humble critic
But... you have think about putting text from site's description in header (this way guest can not read intro text, he'll see info in a moment)... or you can try to put links to "most often used things" for members here (not a buttons, images in common red-yellow solution)... or you can place current logo centered, not left-aligned

I wish to keep it looking as simplistic as possible, and fast loading.

Some addional K of images doesn't change situation radically... Do you know current full page (main) size?
It's far away from "recommended" - 162K of graphics, and most fat 01.jpg and poiball.jpg can be reduced

any ideas to make it more fun and exciting looking? or do you think it's ok as it is, if there was any thing to fill the header out a bit more?

I tried to write my "dirty ideas". It can be (I think) live as it is now. I (in your hat) will think about header and not styled blocktittle, maybe (at last position) about funny menu.hover effects... But it's only my vision, site in any case - your, and your decision will be final and absolute

Re: Free BSD problems with Xoops?

can someone confirm that Free BSD system updates work ok or is one - as Gravies describes - see my post above - reduced to doing a new os install every time an update comes out?

I can...
If you want more deep explanation - Gravies wrote delirium.
Only zero-level newcomer reinstall all by "format - install" in *nix world. I have some servers, wich was born as RH8 years ago, and now it's... well, something like Fedora Core 3 current, servers which was rebooted (only) after compiling new kernel with uptime "more than year", I know servers (FreeBSD), which evolved from 3.(something) to 5.3 without big problem "format-reinstall all"
New version of any distro is only predefined set of programs + (useless for production host)installer.
I (and everybody) can get needed new versions and maintain host in up-to date form... And don't worry about /etc/issue content
FreeBSD have most smooth and elegant solution for updating everything - from world to kernel

Good, huge progress visible from any side
From my POV only white hole in header seems... well... out of order

Re: Can xoops.org create a news site showing title AND subtitle?

You can use News module, but rewriting of index page template will be needed (now it uses single-column paradigm)
Also instead of intro you can write only wanted subtitle in first news edit-area

Rather good, but... probably you can release it as layered PNG, for non-English speaking xoopsers replacing rank names will be nice
