I'm a bit at a loss, and perhaps someone with a little more Xoopspertise can help me:

My webhost has changed owners, and they have migrated me to a new server. Now, the problem is that, after their automated migration routine, everything seems to work fine, and the site is up an running smoothly, ONLY a call to user.php when logged in (that is, we might rather be talking about modules/profile/userinfo.php) breaks with the XOOPS Path Check error. The same happens for users OTHER THAN Webmaster when trying to call a page in the Article module (the big one from China ) Webmaster sees the Article pages fine, but doesn't see user.php.

The site is in 2.2.4 on Apache (apparently 1.33) with PhP 5.14. I have checked about a zillion times whether the new physical and virtual paths are entered correctly in mainfile, and I've searched the entire database for references to root paths from the old server. There're none. I've "updated" (i.e. hit "update" in the modules management without uploading any new files to the server) the core modules as well as the Article module. I'm reasonably sure DNS entries have propagated by now (i.e. are pointing to the new server, at least when it comes to those which are in my way. I've flushed all caches on my computer, including DNS cache, and tried with all the different browsers I have installed.

*Edit*: I just noticed that the search function is also affected.

Additionally strange: I have some minor XOOPS installation hanging somewhere on the same server, which has also been migrated, and it works just fine, without the user.php problem. *Edit* I should say that that minor installation, hidden as it is from public viewing, has never been updated to 2.2.4. So It's still 2.2.3 final.

So, I'm pretty much at a loss and would be absolutely grateful for someone to give me a hint where I could look next. Thanks!

THEM1060, did you get it to work on PhP 5+? It seems the "object context" issue might have to do with that.

Hi folks. I've eventually tried to install the module on my forums, and I'm running into a little problem. I'm trying it on my local install with XAMPP for Windows and PhP 5.0.5, I have XOOPS 2.23 installed (oops, perhaps I should update my sandbox as well?) and NewBB version 3 (ditto). Furthermore SecurityImage 1.5.

I've tried to insert the hack lines the author has provided for NewBB 1.16, and it seems to work fine, with the image being displayed at the bottom of the form. But when I hit "submit" (i.e. when it comes to checking whether the hopefully human being has entered the right combination), I get the following error on a white screen:

Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in (path to xoops)\class\xoopsform\securityimage.php on line 495

I've tried to contact DuGris on the issue, but didn't get a reply so far. Perhaps someone here can help?

Thanks a bunch!!

One French speaking Xoopser has produced a Capcha implementation for Xoops. It's called SecurityImage. If you read a little French, you might be able to understand how to tweak it for newbb. Let me know if you found out

It's athttp://l.jen.free.fr/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=1

A thread here (on the same issue with other modules) with some English leads would behttps://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=48977&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&start=0#forumpost215077

Ideally, we can get phpbb to integrate the feature. I'm getting all spam lately as well. And it's on approval only, so it doesn't even get through. Stupid idiots, them. What's the point, other than making this world a nastier place?

Thanks, looks like a very useful thing. I'm starting to get obnoxious spam in my forums (CBB 3), so I was wondering whether anyone could point me to the the file/piece of code where I would have to make the modifications in that particular module?

Thanks a lot!

Well, just in case you're still looking for the answer: Your relative path breaks when you navigate away from the site root and into module directories. Try "/menu.swf". Or you reference the site root with smarty tag:

"<{$xoops_url}>/menu.swf"
on the assumption that the file is in XOOPS root.

BUT: With the last "security patch"/copyright infringement avoidance/whatever patch Microsoft has rolled out, you'd actually have to use another method to integrated your flash object, so that IE people don't have to click on it once to bleedin "activate this control" every time they load a new page. Here's the one I'm using:

http://blog.deconcept.com/flashobject/

Edit: Well, I see you've figured it out already, and the swf isn't in the root anyway, so you'd use a different smarty tag. The thing with the object embedding is still relevant, though. If you care at all about people who want to look at it with IE, that is

Hey, cool, thanks! The left hand menu thing is strange. It's a flash menu, so if it doesn't work properly, it's about flash... I guess you'll have to live with the possibility it's not working properly on some machines... But then, it gives me the opportunity to accomodate a lot of different menu items in a small space.

If there's just nothing happening if you hit the dark blue names (like "Caporales"), that's normal. They're categories/dances, and the submenues contain the groups which perform those dances. At some point, the dances themselves might also get links. Should be easily understood by people who know a little more about the situation. It's a community site first and foremost.

The gallery: I actually had it in myalbum originally, which was fine, but not quite as elaborate as Coppermine. Some mainly visual things which really put me off, also in terms of organizing categories and subcategories. There're some functions I really like in cpg, and also with that other quite vibrant community which is almost as good as here at Xoops. So I guess I'll stick with Coppermine. Although, of course, integration, particularly of searches, is not quite as good.

You say you've been looking at it with IE5? Do the columns display in the right order, from left to right? Or is it all messed up? In theory, it should work, but you can never know.

Thanks again!

If anyone finds a few minutes to review my site with new theme in the making and give me a few suggestions, I'd appreciate that very much.

www.affvu.org

It's in Spanish, and if you go to "Comunidad --> Galeria de imagenes", you should be able to see that I've tried to produce a similar layout for both XOOPS and a bridged but independent Coppermine Gallery. It's also kept in css theme-wise, with both 2 and 3 columns alternating in different parts of the site.

I'd be particularly, but not only, interested in:

- Suggestions for technical improvement (things that possibly break in different browsers, namely Win 98 and IE 5; I cannot find anyone with such a machine)

- Suggestions for breaking up the so far rather monochromatic color scheme (blue) in a nice and elegant way

- Whatever a graphic designer has to say on it. I'm a bit at a loss when it comes to that.

Cheers

... and should anyone else want to know: They have devised a model at CSSCreator which isolates the different columns and floats them all. With that, the clear:both stays in the column where it belongs --> no annoying white space, and no need to change anything in module templates. No problem if one of your html savvy users has the brilliant idea to use clear:both in a post. Sheer happiness Only drawback: Main column has to have a width, fixed or in percent, but I believe that can be nicely arranged as to accomodate a relatively wide array of different screen sizes.

Best thing of all: You go tohttp://www.csscreator.com/version2/pagelayout.php, drop a few details into a form, and get all the css generated. Free! With some of the fixes for IE! Can't beat that, can you?

Thanks I mean for acknowledging it's tricky, and for suggestions. The URL above is not my page, it seems to be some testpage that has to do with the people at XForge --> Help is on the way, regarding the templates being spaced by clearing elements...

It seems if you float a container, you can prevent its contents from clearing outside elements. That is, if I've only two columns, the main content column right let's say, and float it against a left sidebar, then the "clear" thing doesn't hurt. But I couldn't figure out how to float the center column against both left and right And I didn't realize I'd do away with my IE6 by grabbing the IE7 beta, so now, I have to run through the entire city to see how all that looks on the setup most of my visitors would probably use. Well, someone knows how it goes right, and then all my pains will be in vain.

I was just wondering whether there was some table like container I'm unaware of, into which I could just wrap the content for the time being. For a temporary fix, until someone comes up with the right templates for a css theme. Or something I could do to the <{$block.content}>. Or perhaps a way to quickly replace the <br > s in question with something that does a similar job, even an invisible ruler or something...
