Just to add a little something. Have in mind that this comes from a common user who tends to ask dumb questions.

Mith, will the news about CBB 1.10 be approved? If the news are the same as what phppp posted in the forum... The news piece can be divided in two:

1. Release of the CBB 1.10, bugfixes and changelog.
2. The NewBB 2.0 team falling apart.

I understand why you are reluctant to release the second part of the news before you have had some insight on what happened or tried to contact Predator.

But the release of CBB 1.10 has been a fact for almost a week. Actually, after a week news tend to become an old fact. Just look how many days took for the release of 1.10 after 1.0 was announced.

So couldn't the second part of phppp's news be (have been) edited out?

In this thread some points were raised about the problem with communication between different language communities, some plans were made and it seems some action was taken in some private forums.

When CBB was first announced here, it sounded more like a Chinese Bulletin Board. With 1.10 it is XOOPS Community Bulletin Board. I would like to congratulate phppp for this and that he decided to share this module with the XOOPS community and not only release it for Chinese users. Because it could very well have stayed inside XOOPS China, no news send here about it, no English language files inside the module.

So if you want to start somewhere improving communication between different language communities I think this could be the point to start doing it.

I know you guys have a lot of work to do in your jobs, personal lifes to live, new modules to try and get off the ground, a new XOOPS version that everybody is looking forward to and I absolutely admire and applaud the stuff you do.

But such little frustrations as a news item not released or seeing your wife kissing another guy on the cheek (just kidding) can lead to big decisions. Actually, people tend to decide 'I have had enough of it. I wont be taking care/be involved/do this anymore'. Small things tend to have quite vast consequnces.

Just thought I should share it. I think it's quite impossible seeing this problem anyways :))

Actually, I have a custom menu for the news topics and I accidentally had added an additional slash to one of the URLs.

On the other hand - shouldn't the whole thing work regardless of the number of slashes after the domain?

Not sure whether this should be posted here... or whether it really is a bug but...

Just follow this link:

https://xoops.org//modules/news/index.php?storytopic=0&start=5

and from there try following the link for page 3 from the news. or page 4 etc... The links are something like "http://modules/news/index.php?storytopic=0&start=10"

Adding an extra "/" after the domain bugs the navigation. As far as I can understand the news module uses /class/pagenav.php I'm no phpguru but I suppose the problem is somewhere in there.

Is there an iframe on the page? I have an iframe in one of the blocks which refreshes every 20 seconds. If the iframe refreshes when I hit Publsih - IE6 crashes.

BTW, there is another thing with IE6 & news 1.2. When I press Publish and immediately scroll up or down, the dropdown boxes with the hours stay visible on screen. I can browse afterwards but those hours stay on screen.

Go to Admin >> Preferences >> General Settings and set Yes to: "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?"

Hmmm. From my experience Google crawls a site in 24 hours, but sometimes up to a week after submission. And I have never filled the Comments field.

Lately, Google visits my site every day and indexes any new content. And every day I have something new so googlebot keeps returning.
I've read that Google makes schedules for revisiting sites. So for example if it visits you every day but you don't have anything new for several visits, your site would be rescheduled for a weekly visit etc.
On the other hand Google hasn't recrawled some of my older pages. I did a redesign several months ago and in Google cache when I view articles that were published months ago, the old design shows up. I understand that is due to the ? character in my URLs :)

I don't think you are asking the right question about the ethical side of bogus content. It should be "Are there any rules against it?" And actually Google has some rules. If they catch you it can result from lower PR to being removed from Google index. Besides, nobody would visit a site with bogus content a second time. I certainly don't.

For Comments Display Mode go to System Admin >> Preferences >> General Settings and look for "Default Comment Display Mode" :)))

Maybe Mantis Bug Tracker port for XOOPS (it is in beta) or zenTrackXoops are what you need. On the other hand I've never used either of those so maybe they're not what you need. BTW, at first glance they look quite complex...
