Oh, never mind, I think I know what the problem is - I'll report back later if it does fix the problem.

Problem with 2.0.16 after upgrade

I've been updating once of my sites to 2.0.16 from 2.0.13.2, all seemed to go well, but after, areas of it refuse to load. It may be a page, a block or whatever.

With debug on, an example of the related error message:
Warning_smarty_include() [function.include]: Failed opening '/templates_c/default-muggles-blue^%%64^64C^64C4A963%%theme_blockright.html.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php'in file /class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 1871

If I delete everything in /templates_c/ and reload, it will load up. You have to go through this malarkey with most of the pages on the site.

I've set template updating in prefs, I've disabled all caching and changed the dates on template files to try and force them to be reloaded by XOOPS. (/templates_c is writable by the server.) I;ve also tried xoops_md5.php.

I also tried a fresh install, but once I restored the content, it was happening again.

This is on FreeBSD 5.4, apache, PHP 4.4.4, MySQL 4.0.27.

Anyone have any ideas?

XOOPS multi site...

I'm working on a site with someone - I had talked him into using XOOPS, which is fine, but a while later, he says he wants to split the up into regions with their own sub domains, E.G. www.us.domain.com, www.uk.domain.com and so on.

I have done some research and read several threads on here; and there seems several different ways, and a couple of multi-site hacks that I could use.

Basically, I'd appreciate any comments on what others have done, and any tips you may have on sharing content between the sub sites - before I start messing around and pulling my hair out...

Thanks.

You may be worrying about your site needlessly - spammers will send out spam/uce with a real domain name so that any mail servers that check the validity of the e-mail address's domain will accept it. It also helps to divert the "blame" elsewhere.

I've suffered from this myself.

Not yet, but I may make something available in the week.

This module looks great. Not sure how I'd use it on my sites BUT...my mind is buzzing with seeds of ideas. Cannot wait till a full version is ready.

Any possibility of making it RSSFit Plug-in compatible?

RSS is a feature that will be in it - I hadn't heard of RSSFit before, but I shall check it out.

I'd say that was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction.

As a hoster myself, I have had to deal with insecure scripts causing a site or two getting "hacked", and in the worst case, the site was temporarily disabled while the hole was plugged.

Personally, I'd not delete content, at least without some sort of warning. If it was the script itself, then it would have been disabled, rather than deleted.

But yes, using any script(s) in any language always runs a risk when compared to a static site.

Looks good so far, Andy. How about links for "Visit Web" Site and/or "Buy Now?"

Nice idea. It would really be handy were you to blend your module with the old xooperstore module. Then your reviews might sell some books and generate revenue for your site, too!

Well, I had been planning to do an affiliate/Amazon type module anyway, but I guess this could also be used for that. I have installed xooperstore and will take a look at it.

I'll probably add "sponsor" links to it as well. But, someone could add custom HTML and such links in the "Item Details" area.

Hi all,

Not quite a review, but I thought I'd post this here as it seems the most appropriate forum.

Anyhoo, I have been working on my Review module, AM Reviews, over the last couple of weeks or so, after starting over from scratch. I have uploaded and installed a preview of it on my site, and would appreciate comments on it.

It is a preview only and is not yet available for download, so there are areas that are not yet implemented, like the user reviews, printable version and e-mail to friend pages, etc.

However, it does so far support; Sub categories, image upload, editable publish date, date to start publish and end publish, category view group permissions and more that I can't think of right now. Oh, yeah, I've also been trying to make it easy to clone.

So, I'd appreciate it you could look and let me know what you think - obviously, things like user submittable reviews, various blocks, and so on will be added in due course.

One thing I am unsure about how to do just yet is whether to use XOOPS's built in commments system or not. Using it will save me coding, but I'd have to have the ratings separate. The other option is to do something similar to Amazon's user review setup.

The preview can be seen here.
